I had a lot of ideas with satire audios to use for a Cyclops Saga video, but I ended up with this 🥹

Perhaps he wasn’t as naive or optimistic in the war, but afterwards he most likely wanted to shift his mindset to positivity. ( Too quickly. ) Which led to him trusting too easily, and ultimately his demise. That is how they were led to the cave in the first place. He barely thought twice about the Lotus Eaters and assumed they were heading the crew in the right direction.

As much as I love him, he is flawed. Almost every single character in the story is flawed. Including the main 3 male mortals. ( As in Eury, Ody, and Poli ) Polites’ naïveté led them to the cave, Odysseus’ pride got Poseidon on their tails, and Eurylochus’ curiosity led him to opening The Wind Bag.

People fail to characterize Polites like the man he is, because no, he isn’t cold and brutal. But he’s not the most merciful and innocent being ever. He’s kind, but we can infer that he’s killed people. He could possibly regret it, we don’t know that. It’s just that his main trait is optimism. I’m tired of people saying that calling Polites naive is infantilizing him, because it’s not. It’s just the truth. Adults can be naive too.

I’m also tired of the entire fandom only blaming one person for all the conflict, because it is very well Polites, Eurylochus, and Odysseus’ fault all together. They each played a role in moving the story further, whether it was positively or negatively.

Not accurate to how I imagine him in the underworld, I just wanted to color something with my new rendering style.

Also Tiresias design is by FIL3MP4 because I haven’t made my own yet lol
