β so you know how barry doesn't use healing items in battles ? i just realized . he doesn't do this to be less of a challenge for dawn/lucas , he does it because that's how the battle frontier operates . no healing until after the battle's end .
β the entirety of dppt he's defeating gym leaders and training and going on about how they're going to be the toughest trainer ever , but when they lose to the player right before the elite four , he just shrugs and goes β oh well , i guess i have to train more ! β when they have NEVER given up that easily . but if his whole battling style is based around the battle frontier , it makes sense -- becoming champion would definitely be cool , but it was never their goal .
β the entire game , everything he does is to get to the battle frontier , and he doesn't say a word about it to the player , so you just assume β becoming the toughest trainer β means β becoming the champion . β and that's the thing !! he doesn't see the champion as the toughest -- that title goes to his dad . because he loves his dad . because he idolizes his dad . because if his dad wasn't the toughest trainer out there , why would he leave ?
β barry really wasn't lying when they said they started their journey because of palmer . being able to beat him was always the endgoal .
