Marry The Prisoner To Save Him AU

Likely omegaverse to smooth out the reasoning for the marriage being allowed. Omega Rei and Alpha Volo like always. Content issue themes but par for the course for me (never flips into noncon though)

Rei is a little too honest about what really happened with Volo following their fight on Mt Coronet which leads to Volo as a wanted man by Jubilife (and the clans as well but Kamado is the most vocal about it)

Eventually Volo is captured by the Security Corps and is going to be executed since is deemed too much of a threat/his crimes involving opening the rift and all the chaos and death that realistically caused

Rei is still hopelessly in love with Volo a good boy who never wants to see anyone hurt so tries to argue against Volo being executed, but Kamado isn’t having it. They can’t just let him go since, by Rei’s own earlier admission, the man is dead set on continuing his plans. And it’s a waste of time and resources to indefinitely keep him locked up.

Out of desperation Rei begs Kamado to let him marry Volo. He promises that he can keep an eye on Volo and will make sure he doesn’t continue his plans. When Kamado pushes back on the idea, Rei points out how he’s never asked for anything from Jubilife, no matter what they put him through. Even following his exile and saving of the region, he let everything slide and didn’t demand anything in return. Just let him have this one thing. Please. He’s owed it for everything he’s done for them. Kamado eventually relents (does still feel guilty deep down about what he put Rei through, for all he thinks the marriage is a terrible idea) but says they’ll be keeping an eye on the situation and he won’t hesitate to step in if necessary.

(There’s a route split idea around this point where instead of asking Kamado, Rei works out a way to sneak in to where Volo is being held captive, induces his own heat through some kind of drug, and then throws himself at Volo to get them bonded. Something something it’s considered extremely cruel to kill an alpha if they have a bondmate due to the pain and suffering it will put their omega through, so in those situations the alpha is kept alive if only for the omega’s sake)

Anyway Rei and Volo are married in a small slapdash ceremony and Volo Is Pissed about the entire situation. It’s true he doesn’t want to die, but how dare Rei think he can do this to him. And then telling others he can “keep him under control.” He plays nice enough in front of the others but once they’re alone….

Wedding night can play out in a few different ways. Rei fully expects Volo to be brutal with him and has kind of resigned himself that he can put up with whatever Volo will put him through. If it saves the man, he can take anything. Volo picks up on this and mocks him about it. Asks if he wants Volo to be a monster to him. If he craves being treated like that. It’s not a pleasant confrontation but I lean towards they likely don’t sleep together. Volo is still too mad and views it that not going through with it is more of a punishment to Rei than giving in (he does consider going through with it though. If only to put the omega in his place. He likely also has enough foresight to realize hurting Rei on their wedding night is very much going to backfire on him the next morning if Rei turns up visibly wrecked. And doesn’t think he has it in himself at this point to “play nice” and have gentler sex with Rei since he’s too angry)

And thus begins their tense domestic life! Rei still does things around the village while Volo sulks at home, but once he starts to go stir crazy, he accompanies Rei on his surveys if only to have something to do. He’s not allowed to roam the village freely without Rei around thus sticking by him is the only option. Even if he just keeps getting angry about this.

Eventually though he starts to chill a bit. And can’t deny that being out of the village with Rei for his work is kind of enjoyable. Certainly better than staying in Jubilife (even if Kamado and co are extra not thrilled when Rei takes his man out for extended fieldtrips). Volo has always had complicated feelings about Rei even during game plot era. The naive fool who he resents for being chosen by Arceus over him. But is also the kindest person he knows. If everyone were more like Rei, maybe he wouldn’t have had to…

Anyway, they do grow closer and sexual tension is ramping up but Volo is now just being stubborn about moving forward with anything cause that would be “letting Rei win.” Also doesn’t want to admit he wants it. It would be one thing if he had been the one making Rei his on his own terms. But doesn’t like how control of the situation has been switched, since it’s kind of expected at this point he’ll eventually give in and further their relationship (Jubilife at least assumes they’re already banging by this point).

Rei’s heat is what flips things. Or at least the lead up to it flips things. Volo going crazy on the other side of their shared bedroom cause can smell the initial notes of Rei’s preheat and can’t stop thinking about it. How much he wants him. How Rei wouldn’t even say no. Seems to want it too. It would be so easy. And then starts thinking about how while they could certainly separate during Rei’s heat to prevent succumbing to the temptation, if some other alpha were to make a move on Rei while he’s locked away in some heat house, Volo would 100% have to kill that alpha. In fact, the idea of any other alpha coming for Rei is pissing him off. He should lock that down. Make sure Rei is fully his before anyone else gets ideas. He doesn’t act of these feelings but stews on them all night.

This leads to a confrontation the next day while they’re out working and Rei notices how tense Volo is (he is being affected by his own preheat a bit as well, for all they still have a bit of time to decide what to do). The sexual tension breaks, they end up making out in the grass, while Volo angrily confesses how much he keep thinking about what he wants to do to Rei. To which Rei is all “I’m not saying no! I want you too! I’ve always wanted you!”

Heat sex ensues once they return home and things spiral from there. Do the whole bondbite and everything. More love(ish) confessions as well even if heat makes both of them, especially Volo, aggressive during the act.

This keeps going onward with Rei getting pregnant from the heat sex, some people in Jubilife being a bit tense about the idea of Rei having the child of a traitor, Volo being much more visibly possessive of Rei whenever they’re around others (but what else do they expect from a bonded alpha when he’s around his pregnant omega). Volo’s disdain for Jubilife is a bit more out in the open now but he’s kind of coming across as Rei’s attack dog who’s primed to bite but only if people make a pass at Rei. A lot of people are 😐 about it but well… it’s true Volo hasn’t actually tried anything! Maybe Rei was right that he can keep him under control. Although no one is dumb enough to say that to Volo’s face.

Tbh ideal end here would likely be them moving out of Jubilife at some point to raise baby since can’t see Volo ever being happy there (plus I do think there’s something to the idea of them traveling together nomad-like as always being the ideal endgame for them if Rei remains stuck in Hisui). But don’t actually have an ending in mind for this AU so who knows!

Married To God (Arceus) AU

Also likely omegaverse but could be just regular canon setting. Crack and joke porn is the point of this AU. Setting itself is a little vague as a result (would have to take place postgame but don’t worry about how Volo is back)

Rei somehow gets married to Arceus (a la how some religions will do the symbolic married to god thing) except he’s for real married to Arceus.

And yes this does include sex with Arceus. Arceus is a good husband who fulfills its marriage duties and understands humans have needs, so of course will see that all of Rei’s wants and needs are tended to. Rei is initially pretty shy about it but also like… it’s true Arceus always makes it really good for him!

Volo is absolutely insane about Rei being married to Arceus. Not normal in the slightest. He’s going the route here where he’s going to “help” Rei. Maybe as a way of showing his own religious devotion to Arceus? Maybe cause has kind of made up with Rei? Either way he shows his help by trying to instruct Rei on the best way for him to please his godly husband. He wants the full details on how Arceus acts during sex. Don’t spare any details Rei! He needs to know everything so he can give the best advice.

He’s also making moves on Rei himself since something something wants a taste of the body Arceus is enamored with (in his head Volo is hyping it up that Arceus lusts after Rei when that’s very much not the case. But it’s Volo so of course he’s making up a whole narrative in his head about the true nature of Rei and Arceus’s relationship). Volo is also being a freak once he learns that Rei hasn’t been with anyone other than Arceus. What would it feel like to be inside the hole that has only been penetrated by Arceus’s holy rod. It would surely be a divine experience.

Rei is very embarrassed by Volo’s advice since can only be told how he should properly worship Arceus’s holy rod so many times. Eventually he goes to Arceus and is like “please could you fuck him at least once? He says the most crazy things and I think if he could get it out of his system maybe he would calm down (debatable if Arceus agrees. Since going through with that would very much not result in Volo calming down. Would make him worse)

Volo would def want to watch Arceus and Rei together so he could get off on it take notes for research purposes! Can better give Rei advice if he has first hand experience in seeing how the two interact.

Rei is weak for Volo like always in my AUs so thus why he’s putting up with Volo being a freak. Maybe sometimes likes it even. Is letting Volo bang him on the side afterall. Arceus doesn’t have strong opinions one way or the other and knows Rei likes Volo so allows whatever Rei wants since it’s what a good husband would do! Plus Volo is ultimately harmless here, he’s just a freak. And Arceus doesn’t kink shame!

I have in my head a scene where Arcues and Rei are getting ready to be intimate and Arceus takes on the form of Volo since “is this not the form of the one you are most attracted to, Rei” Rei dies a bit inside. Can’t believe god saw through him like that.

Would this eventually lead to Arceus/Volo/Rei threesome? Maybe. If it’s for Rei Arceus would do it even if has no specific interest in Volo in that way, sex for it is kind of just a thing is does to please it’s human spouse. A way of experiencing the world, much how the proxies of Arceus will travel with the protags in the games for “the experience.” If they do cave though Volo is very much just going to keep angling for more encounters. Even if probably just results in Rei as the sandwich shared between them as Volo gazes on at Arceus adoringly. Volo getting to be the sandwich with Arceus inside him while he’s inside Rei is the rare treat they can’t give him too much cause he’s not coming back from that easily.

Mourning After (VoloLucas in modern day after PLA)

Not omegaverse. Cause if it was Creo would be here and that isn’t the point of this AU

Started writing this a bit so best odds of happening (even has a title!)

Rei is Lucas as always and ends up asking Arceus to return him (and Ingo, I guess, but he’s not important here) home after completing the Pokedex. As Lucas he was the protag of DPP so was essentially the Champion in training under Cynthia as his mentor before he went missing. So very much someone in the spotlight whose absence was noticed.

Volo and him were involved romantically during the game. Getting together during the part where Rei is exiled and Volo makes a move on him. They remain involved up until the Mt Coronet fight where they have their dramatic “breakup” cause canon happens. They never see each other again while in Hisui, despite Rei trying to search for Volo at one point.

Rei, now in the modern day and back to being Lucas, is kind of struggling being back in Sinnoh after being gone for almost 2 years. Trying to cope with everyone he had come to cherish now being dead. Who he kind of said his goodbyes too but ultimately went missing similar to the way he came. He felt it was kinder that way (probably left Laventon and co a note about it explaining the bare details so they don’t search for him). And while he’s happy to be back with his mom (and Barry, Dawn, and Cynthia as well, who all are trying to help him navigate what happened) he can’t really talk about what he went through. Nobody gets it, even when he tells them what happened. Per Cynthia’s advice, they don’t tell the full story of what happened to him to the media. Figure nothing good would come of it.

Volo is immortal here (thanks ZA for the confirmation 🙏) so he’s in the background fully aware his Rei is finally back in Sinnoh. Cause did catch on to the connection between the champion who took down Cynthia and his Rei. Had a whole conspiracy theory arc where he was very Not Well while he was connecting the dots (I like the idea he’s the Arceus Hiker here cause can’t stay away. Needs just a peak of his boy. But also knows he can’t directly contact him. But just a little contact is fine. Surely that won’t throw anything off).

Volo is doing the same thing once Lucas is back. Just wants a peak. Just to see him from afar. Not going to do more than that but well… he doesn’t do the best job hiding so Lucas spots him, is shocked, and then chases him down. Cause surely that’s not who he thinks it is (it is)

Volo is very wet cat Volo in this AU (what 150+ years of yearning does to a man) while Lucas is overcome that someone he once cared about isn’t actually dead. Volo is the only real connection he still has to Hisui. To that part of his life it sometimes feels like never really happened cause only has his memories of the place to go off of.

They fall back in to sleeping together pretty quick cause not like Volo is gonna say no (and his weird gentle yearning that is so different from the Volo he once knew is obvious even to Lucas). Whereas Lucas is probably half using the sex to cope but also not like he ever stopped loving Volo. Had been a time he had even second guessed if he should return home and how maybe making a life in Hisui with the man wouldn’t be so bad (before Volo revealed his true character and promptly blew up that idea).

Scene idea where after Lucas has gone off with Volo wherever (travel together since eventually Lucas just needs to get out of Sinnoh for a while) and Barry texts him all “you’re with him again, ain’t you.”

Lucas’s friend and family don’t like Volo very much between what Lucas did reveal post returning from Hisui (for all he very much downplayed the Volo stuff and the exact nature of their relationship) and even past that, he’s still some weird older guy who seems unhealthy obsessed with Lucas. Lowkey unsure if Lucas even outright tells anyone he’s the same guy (I’m sure they catch on tho)

There’s a lot more little details here. Part of the premise is Lucas noticing how different Volo is now. Not just regarding their relationship (things like how gentle he is during sex def stand out. How Volo now focuses on making sure Lucas feels good and gets off first whereas in Hisui era Volo was very much a selfish lover) but even just how different Volo is as a whole. How despite his partings words, it really does seem like he’s given up on his goal…

Other main point is the duality of how Lucas is Lucas, but he’s also Rei. How to everyone else he’s Lucas, but to Volo he’s Rei. Volo does call him Lucas most of the time but tends to slip up during sex and revert back to Rei. And does pull the whole “his Rei” thing with him sometimes when sweet talking him. Something something theme of how it’s with Volo he feels like he can most be himself. Is allowed to be both Lucas and also Rei.

Trying to think of a scenario where Rei kinda cons Volo (plus can never have too much omegaverse so gotta put them in every possible scenario) so something something an AU where sometimes people will do the “omega run” thing where an omega on the edge of heat is set loose in the wildness and after being given however long of a head start, the potential alpha suitors chase said omega down and the first one to catch and bred them is the winner! Gets the omega as their mate.

Even tho porn is the point here logic brain says I gotta come up with a reason for why this would be done in Hisui when surely the dangers of wild Pokemon would actually be a huge deterrent to this as a cultural thing. Like would need to be done in a pretty well cleared area where people are stationed around to prevent anyone from leaving or anything from getting in. So perhaps it actually is uncommon and only down in notable situations. Archaic even by Hisui standards, but Rei being the Hero of Hisui is able to request this be done for him. Even if everyone is pretty shocked he would want to go through with something like this (but given he has lots of would be suitors in the wings who he acts oblivious to all advances of….)

Anyway the VoloRei! And how this is a con by Rei! In this scenario Volo is back to skulking around the village. Rei never outted him so he’s allowed to come and go as he pleases even if he’s still pissed off at Rei. Since this is omegaverse Volo is much more clued in to his own attraction to Rei and can tell Rei wants him back. But Volo is very stubborn about not moving forward with anything since sees it as the only way he can really punish Rei. Rei removing his scarf and flashing bits of his neck around him. Not acting put off when Volo gets the two of them alone together. Just making it very obvious he would welcome any advances by Volo. And sure, Volo has thoughts about going through with it and ”ruining” Rei for all others, but that would be letting Rei win. And he can’t have that! So he puts them both in a stalemate since is too stubborn to just up and leave. Cause he also very much does not want anyone else to mate Rei. So gotta make sure he’s around to sabotage things if anyone else seems to be gaining Rei’s attention.

Like straight up Volo will just break into Rei’s barracks sometimes and Rei will find him lounging in there. Or going through his things. Rei comes home with some trinket that is clearly meant as a courting gesture from some other alpha and Volo is all “oh, wherever did you get that trash from 🙂”. The object mysteriously going missing within the next few days.

Anyway you get the drift. Volo is stupid and playing the “I don’t want him but nobody else can have him” game. And Rei knows this. Many people in the village probably do thing they’re courting but Rei has always been odd and Volo is considered eccentric so most just let their weirdness be. It’s only because both insist that they aren’t courting that any others bother to try to court Rei.

And thus Rei ends up going to Kamado and asks him to set up an omega run for him. Kamado is not really for or against the idea itself (I tend to see it that Johto is an especially “traditional” region when it comes to omegaverse things so perhaps to him in particular, it’s more of a normal concept). But anyway he owes Rei so after pressing him on if he’s absolutely sure he wants this, does agree to work with the clans to set up the run for him. Only the best for Hisui’s savior! Probably even insists that they’ll vet the people who want to participate since doesn’t want to risk anyone unworthy winning Rei as their mate.

Volo is, of course, pissed when he hears about this. How dare Rei think he can just let himself get mated off to any old riffraff who might so happen to win said run. Volo insists he’s not going to participate. How dare Rei even look at him like he wants him to “compete” for him. As if he would lower himself to that when he suspects that is what Rei is aiming for (even as Rei lies and says that is not the case. He simply thinks it’s finally time he start thinking about settling down and as there’s no one in particular he wants as his alpha, why not let this decide things. Would like being mated to whoever the most strong and worthy alpha in Hisui is).

Time passes as the omega run is arranged. Volo refuses to sign up and wouldn’t actually “sign up” until the night of the run. In the sense that he just shows up since can’t stand the idea of letting anyone else win Rei (in the background of all of this I imagine Rei has actually told Kamado and whoever else is organizing this to let Volo in once he shows up but not make it obvious Rei okayed his participation).

The expected happens, Volo is kind of insane and overly possessive once the run gets going. Like I have a scene in my head after he’s “caught” Rei and some other alpha stumbles across them and Volo of course attacks said alpha in the heat of the moment. And is not stopping his attack. Since is so driven by the idea of not letting anyone else get to Rei. Only stops when Rei comes up and embraces him from behind. Cooing in Volo’s ear how he need not pay attention to anyone but him. He “caught” him, doesn’t he want to fully claim his prize. Come away with him where nobody else can bother them.
