Reason why we've decided Victor can't grow a beard:
- drawing any scene from the Arctic part of the book would require drawing him with a beard and that image is so cursed I never want to attempt again. I tried. I regret it

Here have a little taste
Naturally since this is all British slang some of these would not apply, such as "bit of red" (since Swiss/French soldier uniforms were mostly blue) and "parleyvoo" (since Geneva is a French-speaking region the term loses its point) and generally we'd have to work with the assumption that these English slang words are an alternative/translation of ones used in Geneva. Cultural context would need to be considered
