PROMPT:You fix your hair in the reflection of a window to see them smiling at you through it.
A prompt I wrote 5 YEARS AGO when was deep in the ut fandom. (I still am btw). I would love to slowly get back to writing, becasue I remember how much FUN I had. Its not the best, but man did i have a blast.
Evenings out on the town were nice, especially in the summer. The weather was perfect tonight! Not too cold to have to dress up to much, but not too warm to have to dress down. The streets were bustling with life as people were visiting the various shops and bars, excitedly talking about their day, where to visit, what to get to eat..
The perfect night to go out and spend some time with some work friends!
If you hadn’t showed up a half an hour early due to the fear of being late.
Think positively! 30 minutes earlier is better than 30 minutes late! So instead of just standing on the sidewalk, awkwardly scrolling through your phone, you decided to look around a little.
Making sure to keep within walking distance of the meeting spot, you started mindlessly making your way down the sidewalk and talking in the sights, scents, and sounds of the environment around you. Now, It wasn’t Times Square, but even you had to admit that this city had its perks when it came to sight seeing and tourism.
Continuing your mini adventure, you walk past what you assume to be a bakery, catching the sweet scent of baked goods and just by glancing through the window, you could see a display showing off some of the most delicious looking snacks you’ve ever seen.
Taking a mental note to at least mention visiting the bakery you now know is called ‘Muffet’s’, you eyes seemed to focus on your reflection in the window. A feeling of a slow wave of self consciousness washed over you. Hopefully you didn’t dress too much, or too little. No one really talked about their outfits so you just opted to wear something comfy, and what you think deemed appropriate.
You picked at the fabric at the shirt before smoothing it down with both hands and taking a breath to compose yourself. Letting your eyes scan up to your hair, you frowned a little. You didn’t really do anything special to it, just fixed it up to look presentable enough to go out for the night. You let your hands move up as you move your head a little closer to the reflection and fix what whatever you thought was out of place. It’s not like anyone else but you would notice, but it helped calm your nerves a little.
As you smoothed back to finish on your anxious picking at your poor hair, your eyes refocused to what was going on inside, only to be met with two..... the purple floating lights...?
You blink, confusion overtaking feeling of self consciousness as you lean back a little and observe what you were looking at.
Correction. *Who*, you were looking at.
The sudden realization hits you-
Welp. Time to go find a hole and jump in it.
Right in front of you behind the glass was a skeleton monster who looked to be enjoying a plethora of sweets that was sat on the table. Though it seemed to be abandoned at the moment as he was staring directly back at you.
There should be a few holes dug around here...right? Right???
He bore a comfy looking purple hoodie that seemed to be a little bit too big for his frame and some black shorts. But what really caught your eyes was the sharp gold fang that stood out among the rest of his teeth.
Mortified, you brace yourself to take in his expression, and it just made you want to sink further into ground.
The skeleton was smirking at you. *Smirking*. His brow bone was raised and as soon your face turned into one of embarrassment you swore his you saw his shoulders bounce. Well, at least he finds this funny, right?
You give him an awkward, apologetic smile and took a step back and away from the window. Ok adventure over, go wait at the meeting spot and stand there awkwardly like you had originally planned-
While you were pulling out your phone, you caught something move in your peripheral vision. Sneaking a peak back up towards the stranger, you catch him get up and pull something out of his pockets and-
“Shi-“ you had to take a moment to compose yourself and *not* drop your phone. “Uh-“ Still quite embarrassed, you were only able to muster out a quick ‘hi’ in response. There was a few, long seconds of awkward silence as the guy pull out a box of what looked to be cigarettes and picked one out. All while just...staring at you.
That’s when you heard it, the voice of an angel calling out your name.
Stepping to the side to look behind him, you spot one of your co-workers waving her hand in an attempt to get your attention. God bless the goddess known as Stacy- she was your way out of this, the light at the end of the dumb ass tunnel you just so happened to wander into.
The skeleton turned a little to also get a look at your co-worker, though he turned back to you, raising a brow bone. “That uh- that would be me”
“Oknicemeetingyougottagobyee”
And with that, you stepped past him and tried not to look like you wanted to leave too quickly as you approached a smiling Stacy.
“Be seein’ you around soon”
And what the heck was that supposed to mean?!? You turned around to ask as such, but when you do, there’s no one to be seen outside the bakery.
You don’t know what just happened, but what you do know is that you’re burying yourself under your blankets and marinating in the embarrassment of what you just pulled when you get home.
