Cloudy Party Pie, that was the name she was given. Her mothers, Pinky and Minty Pie, dotted on her from the moment they first met. All she knew was love, and they worked hard to try and raise a happy and confident mare.

And yet, there was something missing, something hidden and unknown, but at the same time so deeply familiar. Despite the perfect family she was born into, she wasn't truly happy.

And so she searched, her parents ever so encouraging, but friends weren't enough, a job wasn't enough and neither was her name. Nothing was enough.

Until she found him.

It was love at first sight, like it was just meant to be. He was smart, gentle and extremely hardworking. He was a bit older, but it didn't matter, he was a young colt still.

Igneous Rock Quartz came from a rather 'traditional' family, as he put it. They were hearthbreakers, with many rock farms scattered across Equestria, and they lived a very modest life, to put it lightly. They wished to remain separated from the rest of ponykind, only coming to the larger towns to sell their work. Anyone who came across one of their members recalled the individual as being 'odd' and 'weirdly moody'.

When Cloudy finally brought her new partner to meet her mothers, it didn't go as well as she'd hoped. They thought he was nice, but expressed concern after learning about his family. She simply ignored them, it wasn't wise to listen to such disrespectful rumors.

As she spent more time with him, she knew she found the missing piece of her soul. He brought the truth she searched for ever since she was small, and her heart skipped a beat everytime they met.

After a few weeks she was sure in her decision, and so she sent the wedding invitations to her family.

For the first time, her parents were not supportive. They tried to spread doubt, but she fought back, the truth was there but they chose to remain blind and she could not save them from that choice.

Her old self died that day. As they said the vows, the guests, only comprising of his family, watched her be reborn as a faithful and righteous pony. When the new couple looked back at the crowd, however, Cloudy Quartz could only notice their expressionless faces, stoic and never changing. It scared her a little.

She never saw her old family again. Never answered their calls when she still kept a phone, getting rid of it along with her belongings brought a new sense of peace. Not long after, she had her first child.

But despite following every rule and being most respectful to them all, his family treated her rather unkindly. She changed her hair, her name and her full being and yet it wasn't enough for them. Igneous tried to fight, demanding respect for his wife, but being the youngest he had no real power and was often treated the same.

Today, while searching one of her husband's bags for some old tool, she dug up a framed photo, quite dirty, but she knew instantly what it was. She clearly remembers throwing it in the trash.

After staring at it for what felt like hours, she finally moved her tired gaze to the tiny pink foal, fast asleep in her crib. She wondered how her filly managed to sleep through the yelling.
