“They look nothing li—”

baby ducks act a lot like baby chickens so in the beginning it wasn’t so bad

the main problem is that baby ducks  LOVE water, but baby chickens get very very dead from it,

so you can imagine the mother hens surprise and horror the first time they go by the farm pond and ALL THE BABIES RUN TO THE WATER AND JUMP IN

my grandmother had to come out of the house to investigate all the noise the hen was making

The mother hen was clucking and screeching in distress and running circles around the pond while the duckies were having the time of their lives.

This happened a few more times before Momma hen was like FUCK IT YOU WANNA SWIM SEE WHAT I CARE , and would sit a distance away watching them in the pond.

One of my best friends had one of the exchange students as her roommate; she was about four foot eleven and maybe ninety pounds, and she had a passion for huge platform boots and shirts with English slogans on them. She explained exactly that – it was cool to wear shirts with English lettering on them, even if you didn’t exactly know what it meant (this was in the late 90s/early 00s).

Her absolute favorite shirt was black with BITCH picked out in enormous rhinestones. She’d worn it three times before I asked her if she knew what it meant, and she said she’d been told it meant “Like a baby dog, the cutest dog? A really cute girl puppy.” 

So I explained to her that it wasn’t quite an accurate translation, and as I elaborated on what it meant, from “female dog” on up to “a name you call a woman you don’t like” and all the reasons you might call someone that, her eyes got wider and wider until finally she yelled “THAT’S BETTER, THAT’S THE BEST! BITCH IS EVEN BETTER THAN CUTE!”

(a blue and white striped shirt with a camo panel at the back of the neck that says “2019 automne-hiver this is the outside of the garment prohibited to wear no the inside” yes, i transcribed that correctly. below is a white section that says “unbeknownst to you, Death was watching from the corner of the hospital room when you were being born. fascinated by life, it imprinted on you. As the years went by, Death saw you often being bullied at school but couldn’t do anything but watche, as taking the life of your bullies would have been too much of a verdict. However you have just been kidnapped and Death is pissed.”)

“I don’t know if there’s a number, but I recently had to put together a list for the DVD because they’re going to do a game that you play with the movie and I think it’s five full pages of references. It goes pretty deep. There’s the stuff you see, that you know, such as the hag from Snow White, and the apples, but then you get into a much deeper level, such as the name of the law firm, Churchill, Harline and Smith, which is the name of the three songwriters from Snow White. So, it gets pretty geeky. If you know your Disney history, then you could watch this movie a hundred times and still find things.” - Kevin Lima talking about references in Enchanted.
