Something that people still do not understand about the pandemic is how much the data was just erased or skewed so that we would all go back to work. An entire generation is facing mass disability because of a *preventable* illness that is still circulating untraced and undocumented.
Disabled people tried to warn us.
Epidemiologists tried to warn us.
Historians tried to warn us.
But when the money stopped flowing, it didn’t matter anymore. The lives and the quality of life of the masses was considered the cost of business.
I don’t even know how to grieve when no one will even acknowledge it.
So in a brief, brief moment in episode 30, the guy giving the Chosen a ride to Odaiba is listening to some music on the radio with the volume really high. The Chosen of course don’t like it and Mimi even tries to ask the guy to turn down the volume, but what’s funny for me in this scene, is how the song that’s playing on the radio happens to be Love Serenade, Etemon’s attack and themesong.
Now, the logical explanation to why Love Serenade was playing on the radio was that Toei needed to put some loud music in this scene, one that portrays the driver as being rude, loud and obnoxious. Etemon fits all three of the adjectives, and his theme song was sort of just sitting there, not getting used for anything, so for Toei it was simply a smart move to re-use Etemon’s theme song instead of getting a whole new song for this short moment.
But think about how funny this scene is when you think about this scene in-universe. Of course the Chosen absolutely hate the song that’s playing on the radio, it’s the trademark attack of one of the Digimon that tried to kill them. No person in their right mind would want to listen to that.
But the absolutely funniest thing about this is the question of how did Etemon’s theme song end up in the radio in the Human World? Well, Etemon did say that he was a superstar and he did say held concerts at the Coliseum in Server every year. So, Etemon was a pop star made out of zeroes and ones. A digital pop star humans could listen to. You know what that means.

it's so BOUNCY and FUN, even without words you can tell what moves each Pokemon is uses (Girafargig going for a Stomp, Butterfree using Sleep Powder/Gust) as well as visually showing how Quagsire is immune to electricity so Pikachu has to improvise, the personality/attitudes of each Pokemon really shines (Cyndaquil kinda just yawning like "OK, I'm awake, let's go" before immediately being able to shove off the Mankey, and then letting loose a big Flamethrower like it's nothing, just so casual), this is just a Battle for fun they aren't trying to knock out each other's entire teams so Ash and Lisa are happy to just have a tie at the end, the Pokemon use the environment of the playground as they Battle, both Trainers cheer and cuddle with their Pokemon through it all... it really is BEAUTIFUL
Just to add on to this sentiment, Lisa's not exactly a major character in the film right? This battle happens with her just kinda crossing paths with Ash and co, and then she leads them to the town where all the eventful stuff is actually happening. And yet despite that, they take the time here to clearly show her own attitude and that she has her own relationships with her pokemon. The specific ways she gets excited when they're doing well and disappointed when they lose their part of the fight, it really gives the impression that she's someone with just as full and eventful a journey as Ash has had.

I've been getting asked a couple times how to get into Digimon, so I figured I collect some posts and info in a master post!
Digimon is a multi media franchise, so there really is no one way to get into Digimon. But I hope this post can help people getting an idea what to look for.

▙▚ DIGIMON WEB
As I mentioned, Digimon is a multi media franchise, and there is some content of just general Digimon lore on Digimon Web. There some fun facts to read up upon!
There's also the official Digimon Reference Book / Encyclopedia online.
So Digimon, or Digital Monsters, originally started as a virtual pet toy. I made a Post about this origin and relation to the Tamagotchi frachise before. ▞▟ Check it out here >>
Besides that, Digimon released many many "Digivice" toys tying into the animes, but also figurines and much more.
I don't have nearly enough expertise to cover them in more details, but there is a LOT!

The first and second season of the anime, and the surrounding movies, share a continuity, but aside from that all seasons are self contained and you can watch whichever you want.
Notably, Adventure recently got newly released blu rays with japanese audio and english subtitles!

I know some people like the english dub, but personally, I honestly don't like it at all... I do really like the german dub, but I really recommend watching the Japanese version. It's my favorite and is considered canon.

Like the anime, Digimon games are almost all completely self contained. Essentially the only exception is a couple WonderSwan games centered around Ryo Akiyama. They're also almost all widely different! No Digimon game is truly like another! In the list below I put well known games in bold, and more obscure games, or the ones never released in the West in small. I also left out all "dead" mobile games.

Digimon has several comic or manga adaptations, some longer but many short promotional works for new releases.
Although there's way more older Manga, I will start with a list of modern Comics/Manga, as we have received a variety recently!
The big one right now is Digimon Liberator!
I've been loving it personally. It's a full color web comic, so it has not normal page layout and instead is just scrolling.

There two big web Novels of note for the Digimon franchise.
Firs one is Digimon Seekers, which ran from 2023-2024 and consistes of 4 Chapters plus an Epilogue.
You can read it on the official Website, but many fans noted the english translation being not great at certain points, so some dedicated fans edited the translation to fix the issues.
The second is Digimon Liberator, which is not simply a novel version of the web comic, but instead tells the story from the perspective of a different protagonist! From what I can tell, the translation for this one is better, although they sometimes mess up the card effects, so make sure to read the actual cards, which are included as pictures.

▙▚ CARDS
Finally, what this blog is all about really, the Card Game.
There have been many Digimon Card Games over the years, but I'm really only familiar with the current one.
If you want to try learning it, there is a tutorial app in the Play Store, and a Rules video on the official YouTube channel that covers the essentials.
There are also Fan made simulators to play online, with dedicated fan bases that you will surely find people to play with or show you the ropes!
If you just like the look of some of the cards, I encourage you to check the pricing on cards you got your eyes on. If the card isn't insanely diffcult to get and important for meta decks, you have fairly good chances to get some gorgeous cards for reasonable prices!
I also collect Pokémon Cards, and let me tell you, the production quality of the Digimon Cards is leagues above.
