Happy five hundred and one years of the protest that began with these great men. Isaiah 58:10,11 During the one thousand two hundred and sixty years of papal supremacy i.e. the dark ages the inhabitants of the old world were forbidden to read the word of God for themselves thus it was in OBSCURITY and DARKNESS that LIGHT arose in these men. Another way to phrase that darkness was as Isaiah writes it “IN DROUGHT”, here we see that a famine was in the land. It was a lack of the “water of the Word” and indeed like a watered garden these servants of the most High watered those who being thirsty found comfort in Christ our righteousness. By doing away with the traditions, human reasonings and higher criticism of the day they exalted CHRIST in His word. As a result of this great movement another movement was born, Isaiah continues: 12 And [they that shall be] of thee (The Reformation) shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in. Isaiah 58:12 The Advent movement definitely applicable to this verse which foretells the great work that should be accomplished through the first, second & third angels’ messages. The fulfillment and preaching of these messages is expressed in the words of Isaiah “thou shalt raise up the FOUNDATIONS of many generations and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the BREACH, The restorer of PATHS to dwell in”. Thank God for leading these men to the truth, the Seventh Day Adventist Pioneers could not have existed without them and the GREAT work they accomplished for us. Does God want us to know more about Him? And ye shall know that I [am] in the midst of Israel, and [that] I [am] the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. Joel 2:27 Who is in the midst? Does He say we as in more than one devine being? Or did he say I will send you a mysterious being in my stead? No, He said I AM in the midst. He also stated “I am the LORD your God” making it very clear that God is to be recognized as a singular personal being, He makes this very apparent by saying 1. I AM 2. THE LORD and He did not say “We are the Lords” as though God was a group of devine beings. Furthermore He asures us that there is “none else” that can take upon that title (The LORD your God). God ends in this verse with a promise to all that believe, “my people shall never be ashamed.” The Apostle Paul writing under the inspiration of the same Spirit declares “Study to show thyself approved unto God a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” 2 Timothy 2:15 The methodology that we use to know and understand WHO God is will determine whether or not we shall be ashamed when God and His Son returns. #john17v3 #God #latterrain
