the World card — the final stage in the journey of the major arcana — symbolises achievement, completion, enlightenment, harmony and wholeness; a feeling of finding one’s place in the universe. highly appropriate for the final instalment of this tiny lil series inspired by a delightfully fun, sweet and sincere movie and its glorious visuals. thanks greta, thanks margot, thanks ryan, thanks dolls 💖

the Moon card (as I read it) represents the power of the mind; the unconscious, complexity, anxiety, illusions and delusions, those worries that seem magnified in the dark and keep us awake at night. you know, like crippling shame and skin problems and irrepressible thoughts of death. Gloria can tell you all about it.

the Empress represents creativity, the divine feminine, maternal feelings and fertility in all its forms; harmony and comfort reign in her world. personally speaking I think I just got over-emotional seeing Rhea Perlman again because I used to watch Cheers as a child (then later as a comfort show like a decade ago in the brief window before they took it away from brit netflix, but anyway) she was perfect in this role.

the strength card (at least the way I read it) represents bravery, fortitude, compassion, and grace under pressure rather than physical might or forcefulness. Allan, arguably the queerest bit of a very queer-coded, Camp movie, feels like a perfect example of this inner strength. Allan doesn’t quite fit in with the Barbies and doesn’t quite fit in with the Kens - it takes strength just to live this way. But Allan knows who he is and, when push comes to shove, Allan will fight with unlimited courage for what’s right. You can depend on Allan.
