Hello everyone and welcome to pkmnirl! Our goal is for this blog to serve as a central hub for people who are planning events or searching for events to participate in! We also plan to be an archive for starting resources and other material folks might find useful when running their blogs.
Our community has been rapidly growing, which while exciting can make it difficult to network and know what's going on. The introduction of stakes tags have been a huge help, though folks still may become discouraged if they struggle to find out about events before they're truly happening. A lot of planning goes into these things behind the scenes!
This post will serve as the directory for mobile users, though on desktop we have a handy navigation page that should remain up to date! If any links are broken or outdated please don't hesitate to let us know!
Directory | Prompt Events | Current HS Tag | Current LS Tag | Current NS Tag | Starting Resources | Ask/Reblog Games | Promos | Reblogs | Our Tip Jar
For an explanation as to how our tagging system works and how to submit an event check the read more.
Tag Explanation:
Event tags are to follow the format of MonthYearStakes, meaning if for whatever reason we are having an issue with updating our tagging system on our various pages you can manually look up info about current, past, or future events if available!
Ex. June23HS would be our tag for High Stakes events in the month of June 2023
Stakes abbreviations*:
HS - High Stakes (The fate of a region or the world is at stake. Grievous and even fatal injuries may happen to people and Pokemon. These often have a great deal of planning going into them, so please keep that in mind when opting to participate.)
LS - Low Stakes (May also be referred to as Drama Stakes. Meant for higher stress events that are not necessarily life or death for participants or their Pokemon.)
NS - No Stakes (These events are meant to be relatively stress free! Conflict may still arise, but nothing intended to have a lasting negative effect on participants. All in good fun!)
*Subject to change as needed for organizational or clarification purposes
How to Submit an Event:
When submitting an event to us it's extremely important that you include a link to at least one blog involved with the event (preferably the "host") and the dates that the event will be taking place. We understand that sometimes these dates may move around, and if need be we are willing to adjust tags but it's important we know where to sort it to begin with.
Please also specify if your event will be High Stakes, Low Stakes, or No Stakes (you are free to clarify as much or as little as you want here as there are other types of tags our system doesn't include).
Finally, include a description of what your event is. You don't have to spoil major plot elements, but at least give people an idea of what they're getting into. The use of keywords may also help people manually searching through our blog!
We may eventually provide a template for event submissions to follow, depending on the general traffic this blog gets. As of right now we do not see that being necessary. However, if your event submission does not include at least these things we will not post it.
Remember that when it comes to crossover events communication with your RP partners is key! Be respectful and do not spring major plot elements on your fellow roleplayers. Try not to become discouraged and importantly have fun!

Im making a picrew and i know that Black hairstyles and fashion can be sorely lacking in them, so if it's ok I would like to ask you and your followers what are things you'd like to see in a character maker?
Question for the audience!
Me personally, brown skin tones that aren't just "beige, brown, and greyish-black". If you can present me fifteen different shades of white, I want the range of brown!
I want the front hairstyles to match the back ones. No more straight hair bangs with locs in the back.
@naylissah has multiple Black centered picrews if you'd like to study a Black artist who creates them!
Hi! I was the starter anon from earlier. Thank you for the resources provided! I had a follow-up question, though, or looking for advice more so? When it comes to beginner pkmnirl blogs, would you recommend starting with a more no to low stakes blog? If so, how would you recommend keeping those types of blogs engaging? Happy birthday, btw!
I would typically recommend a lower stakes blog to start yeah. High stakes used to be a much larger thing than it is these days, with a lot of organizing from multiple blogs to pull off arcs. While I think things have become more relaxed as time has gone on I do still think that higher stakes requires more planning and experience, even if you're the only blog really involved. I generally say write a couple lower stakes arcs to get a feel for things and to garner an audience, and then you can move into higher stakes once you feel comfortable. Blogs don't have to be strictly one thing and perpetual high stakes blogs can find it difficult to maintain momentum. In reality even high stakes blogs engage in low stakes events from time to time to keep things fresh.
As far as keeping blogs engaging I find just posting regularly can do wonders, but that ultimately my priority has always been making friends as opposed to having an audience in the traditional sense. Part of that is I focus more on engaging regularly with other people's stuff, even if its just reading and liking posts. Sending asks and responding to posts is what I do when I have enough spoons and is by far the most rewarding for me. I guess my main advice with a roleplay blog is its a two way street with interactions, if you aren't reaching out to other people then it's harder to find people who will reach out to you.
A recent thing I've been doing for my own enjoyment has been mini arcs! Things that aren't necessarily big overarching plotlines but just little snippets of things a character does regularly. Having a couple off-screen characters can help flesh these out too, so don't be afraid to make coworker and friend characters that pop up from time to time. Give them their own tags so people can get a little context when they pop back up. It helps make things feel more alive and gives you things to fall back on between larger writing projects.
We had two starter tags originally that I was keeping separate but I forget why I was keeping them separate. So I've combined them into one slightly larger (7 posts) tag to scroll through. I think I was concerned about length but that should be plenty.
Hello! I'm hoping this is okay to ask here, I've been wanting to start a pkmn irl sideblog for a while, but im not sure where to start! Do you have any advice or resources that would be good for a beginner? Thank you if answered!
We have an entire tag dedicated to getting started actually! It includes a variety of basic character building resources as well as definitions that are specific to pkmnirl to give newcomers an idea of how it works. But if you want my honest opinion the best thing you can do is just start! Focus on having fun writing your character first and foremost and the rest will come later. Another good way to get out there is to reblog ask games from people and make sure you ask them questions too, communication will always help you to find more people.
If visibility is a concern of yours remember the common pkmnirl tags include: pkmnirl, rotomblr, and pokeblogging. For your pinned post there's also '#pokeblogging network' which can be used specifically to find new users. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I'll be happy to help!

Just a heads up in case anyone else receives a similar message.
I was recently contacted by someone claiming they had mistakenly reported my account because they believed I was involved in a scam. They later shared a screenshot of what appeared to be a Tumblr support email featuring my username and profile picture.
After looking into it and contacting Tumblr Support, this appears to be a known phishing scam that Tumblr is already aware of.
The scam may involve:
Someone claiming they accidentally reported your account
Screenshots of fake Tumblr emails showing your username/blog
Claims that your account is under investigation, at risk of deletion, or needs to be "verified"
Requests to contact a supposed Tumblr support agent, often on Discord or another platform
If you receive a message like this, please be cautious and do not provide your login information or contact unofficial support accounts.
In my case, another mutual received the exact same message from the same user, which suggests the account may have been compromised and is being used to spread the scam.
If you're unsure whether a message is legitimate, contact Tumblr Support directly through official channels.
Please reblog even if this hasn't happened to you. A mutual and I encountered the same scam account, so there are likely more people receiving these messages.
Please reblog to help spread awareness. Stay safe, everyone. β€οΈ
