Hello there! So, I decided to make an introductory post so you can learn who I am and what I tolerate here before you interact with me or share ideas! ^^
About me:
The nameās pixelego! And Iām a fanatic for Legos.
Iām a high-schooler whoās terrible at socializing with other students, so this website is my comfy place for interaction with people online. I really love writing fics! Though my autistic brain procrastinates very often, so itās very slow to upload.
I donāt use AI to make any of my works at all. Iām personally not against the use of AI to get suggestions on how to make a project better, but I donāt agree with using it to do all the work for you. Itās lazy and is nothing but an easy shortcut.
My main interest at the moment is The Lego Movie (1 & 2).
I also like catchy-pop music, and I enjoy seeing art to get inspired on drawing my own.
What I do:
Most of the time, Iām actively making memes, ranting over some topics, making daily confessions about stuff that bothers me. Sometimes Iāll be posting drawings too, but not that frequently since my art style kinda sucks and it takes me over an hour just to draw a character. Overall, Iām mostly here to interact with people and have fun :D
DNI list:
There are a plenty of stuff I personally donāt tolerate and make me feel very uncomfortable, so Iād really appreciate if you kept a respectful distance from me if you support any of these things;
-Vestcest and/or Rexmetstyle.
-RexHem
-Unikitty ships.
-Bad Business and Copcest.
-Watevra x Emmet and/or Rex.
-Any other incestous, darkships or minor x adult stuff.
Other than that, Iām not comfortable with these things either;
-Racism, homophobia, transphobia.
-Sexism and misogynism.
-Policy matters.
-People commenting about their fetishes to me.
Inbox rules:
My inbox is always open, so feel free to ask anything! Just learn the boundaries of the DNI list, of course.

Soā¦I decided to run a RP ask blog, cuz Iām bored and Iāve got nothing better to do.
I know it isnāt a Rex ask blog and all, but Iām just really bored and plus these Systarians barely get any attention as a whole, so here it is.
Blog: @ask-systarians
Listen! You donāt have to go there and ask, Iām not forcing you! I just wanna do something different for once, and even if youāre moots with me or not, you donāt have to participate, okay?
Dude! Last night, I went to the movies and watched the āOdysseyā movie, which premiered in my country just a few days ago. GUESS WHAT I FOUND WHILE GETTING THE TICKETS AND THE POPCORN.
Lego folks, are you guys gonna kill me if I say I dislike BenLen
Look, donāt get me wrong, I TOTALLY GET THE APPEAL. I just donāt think itās all great because, letās be honest, Lenny pretty much was created for the sole purpose of being Bennyās canon bf for a Valentineās Day post, and then he never gets brought up again. Not only he doesnāt appear in the movies, doesnāt have a single line, but also Benny practically never even MENTIONS him, as if Lenny was a random pick that Warner did. Outside being Bennyās bf, he has NO personalityā¦

DISCLAIMER!!! This is all just for funsies and entertainment! Not for any sort of humiliation or call out, okay?
---
EmmetStyle (Emmet x Lucy): Ah yes, the most popular pairing of the entire fandom, and itās not even yuri or yaoi, itās just a simple casual heterosexual romance. You (like me) really like the idea of a feminine guy being paired up with a masculine girl, in a classic āopposites attractā, which is a nice change of pace since itās always the yapper gf and the listenable bf trope that gets a higher spotlight, so having a contrast is really wholesome for you.
Coppernauts/Galaxy Cop (Good/Bad/Scribble Cop x Benny): Youāre an old-timer whoās been around ever since the first movieās release, or perhaps youāre just interested in the kind of dynamic that people with completely opposing personalities (at least when itās Bad Cop) can have, despite both of them not interacting more than once. Youāll scream at the mere image of (hypothetically) seeing an astronaut and a cop side by side, even though the chances of that happening in real life are really rare.
Batevra (Batman x Watevra): You probably dislike Batman being paired with Joker, or maybe you just donāt like āenemies to loversā, so you choose a married couple instead because you have the Main Protagonist Syndromeā¢, and so does your partner. You also probably like being married to a queen who sings all day long.
BatJokes (Batman x Joker): Not only the yaoi part appeals to you, but your core trope is āenemies to loversā and you like the idea of a āforbidden loveā given how a hero being romantically involved with a villain could certainly cause implications to the hero, family conflicts, damage to the image, and youāre all for the tea and drama. Or perhaps you just like the idea of Robin having two dads. Thank you, Warner Bros, for making Lego Batman bisexual.
WatBatJokes (Watevra x Batman x Joker): You dislike the mere thought of being third-wheeled, and when you see a couple all happy and joyful, youāll want what they have, but hey...why choose? Why not just make it a poly couple? If you have their consent, then not only youāll be dating a king, but youāll also be dating a queen aswell.
WyldBat (Batman x Lucy): Youāre a very rare species in the world, given how almost NOBODY ships these two. But uh, back on the topic. You seem to be that kind of person who has a big difficulty accepting breakups, so you just mourn for a while with the fact that the person you once dated isnāt going back anytime soon, especially if theyāre already taken.
BatMet (Batman x Emmet): Usually, youāll have the tendency of going for your gfās ex if she ever ditches you.
DangerStyle (Rex x Lucy): Your core aesthetic is angst and you like the idea of a lost person being found by their love and having the two of them rebuilding their future. And honestly? I respect you for this, I love some good angst too.
SweetStyle/WyldMayhem (Lucy x Mayhem): Perhaps youāre tired of just seeing the same couples over and over again, so you go for the only yuri couple existent in the fandom. Not only do you like the pastel girl x goth girl trope, aesthetically speaking, but you also like a good story of a one-sided rivalry with both of them finally getting to understand each other, and forming a strong bond, friendship, or whatever these two have going. You have the tendency of having a blog with a super cute layout, which reminds you of this ship.
BenLen (Benny x Lenny): You like when both people in the relationship are just so similar, aesthetically speaking, that you just ship them even if one of them never once said a word, doesnāt have a defined personality, nor ever once showed up the actual movie, other than the extra materials and stuff.
ConstructionCop (Emmet x Good/Bad/Scribble Cop): Aside from the contrasting personalities (in Bad Copās case), you seem to be thrilled with a good story of a cop (intimidating in a weird romantic way) interrogating a random nobody, who just happens to unintentionally fall in love with the cop who only asked simple questions. From a real life perspective, you want an actual cop doing the same thing with you.
Tell me more ship suggestions below if you wanna see me make more of these :D
I don't think Watevra can possibly be killed/murdered physically or by age.
Mostly for the fact that she's ultimately invencible given how not only she's capable of becoming anything she wants but also for the fact that she can morph in rooms, and objects probably, not on minifigures or minidolls though.
There's also the fact that in the final battle scene in Star Wars style against Rex's raptors, one laser hit a small part of her body while she was in a spaceship-shape, but she still kept shape-shifting afterwards as if nothing happened. Plus, at the very end of the movie, she's seen in her horse form again, which was the same exact form she was presented at the beginning, and her horse form is pretty much the same even after she got hit by a laser.
I think the most close thing to killing her is through some sort of world shaking disaster (like Armamageddon), which causes the bricks composing her body to be detached. But even that doesn't fully kill her because she can still go back to life if she gets rebuilt again.
You know, sometimes I wonder why a lotta people consider the lego movie to be the āØgayest⨠thing ever even though jojo's bizarre adventure is even gayer...
Another lego movie rant about Lucy and how sheās viewed by the fandom cuz Iāve got nothing better to do.
Long ass tittle lol. But really, Iām not saying you HAVE to like Lucy or anything like that, I just wanted to point out something that has been in my mind for a while and I fell like I didnāt phrase it correctly in my other tlm rant about how the fandom often views her, so here Iāll be pointing out absolutely everything
Yes, I know that Lucy did some awful stuff, even if she was just looking for the best. Yes, I ABSOLUTELY know that Lucy wasnāt right for telling Emmet to not be what he wants when it comes to their dream house. And I ABSOLUTELY know that Lucy was somewhat responsible for Rexās existence.
I know that pretty well, but what I think that many people donāt know is that, whether you like a character or not (protagonist or antagonist), itās important to acknowledge that the character may have many flaws and STILL have qualities, because these things can co-exist. For example, a person can be a thief and still be a nice person (when not committing crimes ofc).
Another visible example: The Lego Batman variant can be a jerk and terrible boyfriend to Lucy (when they dated) and STILL be someone who cares for those who he truly love, even if he doesnāt show it.
However, I donāt often see the same being applied to Lucy, at least in tlm2, you know?
For contextualization, Lucy was considered a cool character in tlm1, but in the sequel, A LOTTA PEOPLE started to dislike/hate her because she was essentially the main reason for Rexās existence and acted harshly with Emmet at the beginning of the movie. That, I can totally understand why some would start to dislike her, BUT SAYING SHEāS OUTRIGHT HORRIBLE AND AN ASSHOLE??? The argument doesnāt work with me.
You see, I shouldnāt be blaming exclusively the lego movie fandom for that, because this happens in EVERY fandom in the internet. Iāll try to phrase this in the most summarized way possible:
When a character does 19 positive actions and only 1 single negative action, that itself is already enough for the ENTIRE INTERNET to reduce the character to that one single bad thing they did and COMPLETELY IGNORE THE OTHER 19 POSITIVE THINGS ABOUT THEM.
Using Lucy as an example: Sheās a good fighter, tries to help her friends, and is sociable in her own ways. All she has to do is hurt Emmetās feelings, AND THE ENTIRE FANDOM WILL SAY SHEāS A HORRIBLE PERSON JUST BECAUSE OF ONE SINGLE BAD THING SHE DID AND COMPLETELY IGNORE HER QUALITIES.
I feel like many people forget one big thing: Emmet and Lucy are canonically a couple, even if itās not outright said. And I get that there are people out there who ship Lucy with Mayhem and Emmet with GCBC or Benny. I TOTALLY get that. But letās think on what Emmet and Lucy are canonically for a sec.
Emmet and Lucy may have contrasting personalities, and thatās fine, ship tropes like Feminine Guy x Masculine Girl exists in movies and series, and thatās totally fine. But we have to think them as a couple.
We canāt expect that a couple will always agree with each other in absolutely everything, as well as we canāt also expect that they canāt never be upset or angry with each other for whatever the reason is. Otherwise, theyāll sound like a generic happy couple whose relationship feels artificial because one never disagrees/gets upset/mad with the other. And Emmet and Lucy were already proven to not be that kind of canon couple.
And before you ask, no, I do NOT think that Lucy was right at all for saying that Emmet should become colder and edgier just because everyone else is. I do think she made a mistake when telling him that.
But on the other hand, if we donāt simply reduce her to a terrible gf and horrible person, you can tell that she was kinda saying that because she also wanted the best for him, not to make him cooler and edgier. That was simply the best solution she could come up because thatās LITERALLY her coping mechanism towards tough and miserable times, so she tried to do the same with Emmet because that was HER way of coping with the fact that everything wouldnāt be awesome for God knows how long. So while I donāt agree with her intentions, she certainly wasnāt doing out of malice and I think she couldāve phrased it LOT MORE BETTER.
Friendly reminder that Lucyās whole arc was about her NOT wanting to show her true self to other people because President Businessā regime FUCKED HER MIND COMPLETELY to the point that she even dyed her hair to hide traces of her not-so dark past.
What I do dislike about the fandomās view towards Lucy is how apparently SHE isnāt allowed to do anything harmful to Emmet, otherwise the fandom will hate her with all their breath. But Emmet doing something that obviously bothers her doesnāt get commented?? Like genuenely, this is NOT a hate post towards Emmet at all. I like both characters EQUALLY despite their flaws. But one thing that the fandom often does is completely blame Lucy while Emmet pretty was flirting with her when they first met. And for her to say right on his face that she had another boyfriend at the time was because she probably noticed it. And even after she warned him, he still kept flirting with her afterwards. Iām not firmly stating that Emmet is a horrible person, much to the contrary, he could simply not know how social cues works since in tlm1 he lived under an artificial kind of population.
While I donāt agree with neither of their actions, I think having BOTH of them have flaws is extremely important imo. Because that way, neither of them sound like the other comes off as awful. Thatās how couples work irl, with BOTH (or more people if itās a poly relationship) having flaws and actively overcoming them. Take Lucy for example, she even had the guts to apologiaze to Emmet at the end of tlm2, meaning that she also has flaws and acknowledges them.
What I donāt really like is how the fandom often reduces Emmet to a cinnamonroll who needs to be protected at all costs and Lucy as a horrible person and gf to him, as if sheās always wrong. In fact, saying that Lucy should always be forgiving Emmet for anything wrong he does is completely inconsistent and may even sound kinda misogynistic depending of the context.
No, Iām not stating that every person who likes a male character and dislikes a female character is misogynistic by default. I myself have many favorite male characters and female characters too. What Iām saying is that people often want the woman to always forgive the man for anything bad he does (in case heās actually regretful of it) because that makes the female character to fulfill the audience expectations. BUT WHEN IS THE OPPOSITE, the woman will ALWAYS sound wrong and be hated.
For the lack of wording, letās use a simple example using Emmet and Lucy:
Letās say that Emmetās mother and Lucyās father were awful parents who did something really bad during Emmetās and Lucyās childhoods, but sometime after they met their kids in a long time, theyāre deeply sorry for what they did and are willingly.
Now letās imagine a scenario where Emmet and Lucy wonāt forgive their parents because they arenāt ready or something. Who do you think will be hated and sound wrong for not forgiving their father/mother in this situation...? Huh?
If you say Lucy, then youāre correct.
If Emmet didnāt want to forgive his mom (for whatever the reason is), EVERYONE will understand him and think that heās absolutely correct for not forgiving his mother while sheād be hated and people will think that she doesnāt deserve forgiveness.
HOWEVER, with Lucy, it changes completely. If Lucyās father is deeply sorry for not being a good father to her in her childhood, EVERYONE will sympathize with him because now heās good and just wants to change for the better, but Lucy would be seen as a VILLAIN if she rejects him and everyone will ignore that she has her own problems and needs time.
You see my point in this?? Itās almost like if a female character doesnāt correspond to the audience expectations, sheāll be MASSACRED and HATED in the internet JUST FOR BREATHING WRONG OR DOING SOMETHING BAD...but with the guy, EVERYONE supports his decisions.
REMEMBER, a character can have qualities AND flaws co-existing, regardless of their gender. So while Lucy can be a good person whoās always looking for the best in her own ways, she can also make mistakes and upset someone, even if thatās not her intention. And while Emmet can be a sweetheart, he can also make Lucy fell uncomfortable at times. A person having flaws doesnāt automatically means sheās just horrible, because qualities can co-exist.
*sighs* Sorry if I sounded rude at any point of this rant, Iām just really really tired of people hating Lucy while also forgetting that sheās one of the protagonists and sheās trying her best to help.
Random idea that came to my mind and I wanted to share, and given that there's a five year gap between the two movies, I'll just be adding more five years to every character that debuted in movie 1;
Lego Movie 1 characters:
Emmet: 22 (movie 1); 27 (movie 2). This is actually his canon age according to some official scrapped scripts from the movie.
Rex: Yeah, I know he debuted in movie 2, but I'll be counting Rex as a movie 1 character because he's literally Emmet from the future...since it was stated that Rex spent four years in Undar, then he's likely 31 since he was 27 when he first got there.
Lucy: 22 (movie 1); 27 (movie 2) I hc her to have the same age as Emmet.
Vitruvius: Honestly? Idk, but I mostly assume he's 70-80 or something. It fits his mentor figure role.
Batman: 30 (movie 1); 35 (movie 2). I personally use this age because that's usually the age Batman is mostly portrayed.
Unikitty: In her spinoff, which probably takes place before the movies, she's confirmed to be 11-12, but since her lego movie variant doesn't have any age confirmed, then I'll hc Unikitty LEGO to be 15 in movie 1 and 20 in the sequel since her VA gives her a teenage/young adult vibe.
Benny: This actually has to do with math and my own interpretations. Since he's labeled as "1980-something space guy", it makes me think that Benny was born in this year. So by following that logic, subracting 2014 with 1980 would result in 34 (or 35 depending on his birthday date), which is my age estimation for Benny in movie 1, and by adding 5 years, in the sequel, he's 39-40.
MetalBeard: He's the most uncertain of all the cast, but idk, maybe 45 in movie 1? And 50 in the sequel? MetalBeard's age is probably the most difficult for me to headcanon precisely.
GCBC (Good Cop/Bad Cop, and Scribble Cop too): This may be controversial but I personally don't see BC or GC/SC as separate brothers sharing the same body. I see them all as different entities or opposites personalities sharing the same headspace, with Scribble Cop being some sort of replacement for Good Cop. Therefore, I also see him as 35 in movie 1 and 40 in the sequel.
Lego Movie 2 characters:
Sweet Mayhem: As many of you already know, Mayhem being 17 was just a rumour that likely came from a fan interpretation that tried to make their headcanon a canon thing by putting it in her wiki page, so it's not a real info anymore. Therefore, even before the rumours, I've always headcanoned her to be in her 25s during the time TLM2 happened.
Ice Cream Cone: Tbh, I never really thought about his age, but giving how little he tolerates Watevra and Batman's constant flirting, it makes me think that he's already been her butler for a long time. So idk, maybe he's in his 30s.
Susan: Honestly? I'm not sure, but I have the feeling that Susan may be older than Mayhem, so I'll assume she's 27-30.
Watevra Wa'Nabi: This took me the longest to think about, since Watevra was created by Emmet and there was a five year between movie 1 and movie 2, which was when she made her debut. By that, in the in-universe sense, Watevra was created 5 years ago. But even if she was created 5 years ago in-universe speaking, she doesn't act like a kid, so it makes me think that Watevra may be in her 25s or 30s.
---
Sorry if this isn't compatible with your headcanons! All of these age estimations you've seen here (aside from Emmet and Unikitty's ages) are completely my interpretation of the characters, so please don't hate me if you don't think the same!š„¹š„¹

So, Mayhem really isnāt 17 (Investigation complete)
Hello there people! So, back on April 29th, I started an investigation on Sweet Mayhemās age to see if the rumors about her being 17 were true or not. See the post here. And while I was pretty occupied with other stuff like that, yesterday I finally got the last confirmation that the rumors were indeed fake and she has no actual age stated at all.
In my post, I talked about how the wiki for the Lego movie is a place that can easily be edited by anyone, which means that anyone couldāve added anything to the site. According to @benny-the-spaceman, someone added a whole page about the āGreen Rexā being up uncontested for a long time even though the Green Rex was actually just a silly thing that the fans made and was obviously not a canon thing, yet people took it for some unknown reason took it as canon and brought it to the wiki. Besides that, there were lots of rumors too about Lucy supposedly being born in 1990 and being 40 or something like that, even though we actually really donāt know where these facts even come from. The only characters that have a confirmed age according to some scripts is Emmet (22 in movie 1, 27 in movie 2), Unikitty (12 years; but only her spinoff show variant is confirmed, the lego movie variant Unikitty doesnāt have any age confirmed but sheās likely still underaged) and lastly Vitruvius (the oldest one from the group). Anyone else has no confirmed age and is up to interpretation.
The biggest issue isnāt someone having an interpretation about something, it is about them trying to get their interpretation to be a canon fact and put in the wiki. To make it worse, they donāt even list any source that could possibly indicate or confirm that, so it really makes me think that the lego movie wiki isnāt a reliable place. From what Iāve seen, whenever people address her being 17, they mostly mention the wiki only stating that itās said on her wiki page and no other place, which just reinforces my whole point about there being no reliable source.
But back to the topic, here, Iām gonna unveil that the rumors where fake:
An user called @ayupglitterz (THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE INFO MAN!! š) told me that there was a dvd about tlm2 which contained some extra stuff about the movie (this was the dvd I was trying to find recordings but when I asked some people out there, they told me that they donāt have any recording of it), and the user told me that the closest thing about her age was this quote āShe talks like a kid trying to be toughā, yet this doesnāt confirm anything about her age, in fact, it only leaves an ambiguous interpretation, which means that Mayhem could actually be an adult whose mentality is childish but tries to act tough, which is honestlyĀ the most plausible interpretation for Mayhem, given what we know about her.
The main claim about her being 17 other than the whole āBianca doesnāt know how long it takes to be a generalā argument was mostly justified by her not being afraid to act girly when sheās not in general mode, but that argument itself is very useless. In fact, thereās a living proof that age isnāt determined by personality; Take Emmet for example, who is a grown up man living his best life and isnāt afraid to act childish around people.
Lastly, the last proof I found that really confirms that the whole āMayhem is 17ā claim is false is this one video Iāve found yesterday while searching for random lego stuff in tumblr, which gave me the link to a youtube video which contained some of tlm2 deleted scenes that either were changed or were really removed. This image may be shocking but here it is:
But particularly, Mayhemās face:
(Hereās the link for the video, and itās real.)
That already tells us a lot, and Iām not necessarily stating that Mayhem really is lesbian or something, but she probably did feel some sort of admiration there for Lucy (her facial expression says a lot). Iām not necessarily shipping these two, but Iām just saying that this implies that, if the directors were planning for Mayhem to feel some sort of attraction for Lucy, either platonic or romantic, then they wouldnāt make her a minor at all in the first place if that really were the case, because if she was really a minor and this scene made to the movie, they would sure get in a controversy for that.
Either way, I wanna thank all of the people who helped me with this investigation and I hope I clarified everything for those who were in doubt about this rumor. As for the wiki, donāt really trust it, itās an editable website and anyone could easily go there and put false info without source confirming it.
Thank you @benny-the-spaceman for the āGreen Rexā info and HUGE THANKS to @ayupglitterz for the dvd info, that REALLY helped me a lot. :D
Hey there, I wanna rant a little about Coppernauts (but mostly about the characters themselves rather than just the ship), especially since today starts the @coppernauts--week and all.
(This is NOT ship hate at all, it's just my biggest issue with how the fandom portrays it rather than the ship itself.)
For a long time, I usually didn't ship characters who had very little to no interactions, which was btw the main reasons why I didn't shipped Coppernauts back when I first heard of its existence, but my opinion changed over the time. HOWEVER, over the time, I realized that there was also a very specific reason for me to not actually like it:
The way how the ship is portrayed in the fandom.
You see, one thing I noticed while seeing Coppernauts fanart is how the ship can basically be described as:
"GCBC is an asshole 100% of the time who is always in angry mode and is constantly insulting Benny 24/7 whenever he brags about spaceships or is just existing, while Benny is the clueless and brainless sunshine guy who is always annoying GCBC and likes to be insulted."
This is one of the reasons why I used to say that the ship was "flat" on the surface, not because of the trope appeal, but because that's how they're portrayed in fanart.
Now, I get that Coppernauts does have some appeals to be so popular, the main being the "opposites attract" trope and their parallels, which is definetely something to note.
However, I feel like a lotta ppl ignore what these characters even are in the first place. Now, I'll get off-topic of the ship to focus on the characters themselves.
What really pisses me off is how GCBC has a MAJOR fanbase, is one of the most beloved characters of the franchise, is one of the most remarkable characters, and YET, ppl forget that he was MANIPULATED by his boss, BLACKMAILED, EMOTIONALLY BLACKMAILED, was FORCED to do things while firmly believing he was doing the right, watched his parents get KRAGGLIZED IN FRONT OF HIM!! And when he was betrayed, he choose to change sides and decided to HELP the protagonists on their escape, thus officially starting his redemption arc.
ALSO, not to mention that Scribble Cop's creation's entire idea wasn't just to replace Good Cop where he originally existed, but also to ERASE HIS PAST SELF AND COMPLETELY DISASSOCIATE HIMSELF FROM THE SYSTEM THAT HURT HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE!!!! (Did ppl ever thought about this while watching the movie?)
You see my anger on this? How can a beloved character have a huge fanbase and yet not only his trauma is overlooked by his fans but also FORGET that he decided to change sides and reddem himself? And to make things worse, he's always getting reduced to his main visible personality trait while he's in Bad Cop, an angry cop who's always acting like an asshole to everyone.
As for Benny though, I can't say much about him since his personality is very simple, but I do get pissed whenever he's portrayed as a little femboy or a youthful twink. Like, Benny is FAR from being a young guy, because while his age is not said in the movies, is very implied that he resembles nostalgic stuff, aside from him being one of the oldest minifigures from the main gang, not only that but ppl ALSO forget that he's known as "1980-something space guy", and if I'm not mistaken, that's what Vitruvius calls him when he first shows up, which means that he FAR from being a young guy (I headcanon that 1980 was probably the year Benny was born). YET, ppl make him a femboy twink.
Lastly, when it comes to Coppernauts, THAT'S WHERE I GET PISSED THE MOST. When combining GCBC's portrayal in the fandom with Benny's femboy twink portrayal in the fandom, the result is literally "sunshine guy who is annoying grumpy guy 24/7 and gets insulted back". THIS is the reason why I thought that Coppernauts was very flat at first, not because of the movie, but because of the fandom portrayal.
I do find ironic how Coppernauts is considered "angst" when I BARELY see any Coppernauts angst art or fic out there. Actually, I think I NEVER once saw an angst Coppernauts art, at least on tumblr.
I had to rewatch the movie SO many times just to understand the TRUE reasoning for Coppernauts popularity aside from the classic "opposites attract haha". It took me a LONG time for me to understand the whole emotional plotline between GCBC and Benny, the reason why it took so long is because of how they barely interact. But I finally figured it out after a long time by noticing the characters' lore individually.
Another thing that a lotta ppl think a lot is that Coppernauts is a potential "enemies to lovers" ship. Well, let me break it to you, but Coppernauts is NOT enemies to lovers, in fact, is FAR beyond enemies to lovers. Wanna know why? Well, is because GCBC and Benny barely interacted with each other to even form some sort of rivarily, and even why they first interact, their only interaction in the entire movie is POSITIVE. Do I have to remind y'all that Benny's personality is very simple? Well, this is also another reason why coppernauts isn't enemies to lovers, because EVEN IF GCBC had any grudge against Benny, the hatred is not reciprocated because Benny doesn't even hold any grudges at all, in fact, he's quite easy to forgive if the person is genuenely trying to change, WHICH SHOULD BE THE ENTIRE POINT OF THE SHIP.
I'm not saying that Coppernauts NEEDS to be agnst in every fanart, but if it had more of it, it'd be really cool, because GCBC's trauma and terrible experience in Octan is COMPLETELY overlooked, and Benny is just portrayed as a feminated pet, so if we have a dynamic in which GCBC is actually trying to reddem and forgive himself for what he's done in the past while becoming a better person each day and Benny sees that progress and helps him instead of annoying him, then Coppernauts would really have a healthier dynamic.
Coppernauts CAN be a very interesting ship if you don't just draw or write the characters by portraying them on their surface traits. In fact, if there was more fanart about GCBC being comforted by Benny instead of insulting him 100% of the time, then I think I would really like the ship lot more. If Coppernauts is just "angry cop and sunshine spaceman" then the ship does feel very flat.
In fact, the more I talk about it, not only flat the ship feels in the fandom, but also Coppernauts accidentally becomes rather unhealthy in some aspects, I'LL GET TO MY POINT SO DON'T STOP READING. I say this because technically, if we think on an in-universe sense, Coppernauts would really be a very flat and unhealthy kind of love unhealthy, because if we're talking about the FANDOM portrayal of Coppernauts, then it's basically what I said earlier; GCBC's short-tempered and asshole personality plus Benny's annoying and boundary tresspassing. That kind of love quickly dies if we're talking on fandom coppernauts being applied to real life. For a relationship to even work in the first place, both (or more) partners should have RESPECT with each other and should also respect each other's boundaries. So when it comes to fandom coppernauts being applied to real life, then realistically speaking, GCBC would HATE to have someone constantly disturbing his peace and boundaries while showing up at work suddenly, and Benny (if he's annoying but at least has some sense) would persoally not like being insulted just because he exists.
THIS is the kind of love that would (realistically speaking) die out very quickly.
BUT, if we actually follow their canon personalities correctly instead of just using their surface traits, then the dynamic becomes REALLY interesting. At the start of the year, I thought that the ship was really flat because of the fanarts, but after finally understanding the real depth of it, I think that the most movie-close accurate interpretation of Coppernauts would probably be translated to something like this:
"After quiting Octan for once, GCBC does feel guilty about his actions in the past when he operated for President Business, so he activately tries to overcome his failures and tries to change himself each day. And Benny, the most quick to forgive people whenever they actually make some progress and is GENUENELY trying to change, would see GCBC's progress and would occasionately help him to get over his past."
And if we're talking about casual slice-of-life Coppernauts, then it'd probably be something like:
"GCBC occasionately gets annoyed by Benny's obsession with spaceships, but this doesn't become a reason for insulting, while Benny, after getting to know more about GCBC, actually respects his boundaries whenever he wants some space and room for himself."
You see what I'm talking about? If ppl actually remember for once that Benny is someone quick to forgive, and that GCBC is a character that has plenty of room to have a full redemption arc, then Coppernauts has a VERY interesting dynamic if the characters' emotional depths are explored further than just "Bad Cop-angry-mode boyfriend insults joyful spaceman boyfriend just for existing", in fact, this reads more like a pre-movie 1 coppernauts, so it is kinda flat.
The most interesting thing about a close and accurate interpretation of the characters' movie personalities is that this kind of dynamic can be read as both platonic and romantic without needing an appeal to be exclusively romantic.
THIS is the kind of Coppernauts portrayal I'd REALLY love to see being drawn or written more often by the fandom. IN FACT, this is where the opposites attract trope could shine and serve a better meaning for the ship, in which I think it could be something like: "GCBC tries to ground Benny's obsession with spaceships instead of insulting him for it, while Benny tries to help GCBC either with his redemption arc or by giving him a reason to keep changing and continuing his growth and development instead of pushing his boundaries".
Feel free to agree or disagree with this, I'm all ears to any debate or other opinions.
Thank you for reading until here and have a nice Coppernauts week! <3

I just wished that Lucy wasn't so hated in the fandom due to how she was written in movie 2. Sure, I get that a lot of ppl don't like how she mistreated Emmet at the beginning of movie 2 and that she barely said anything positive about him to defend him. That's completely reasonable especially if you really like Emmet.
But I feel like a lotta ppl forget that she realized that what she did wasn't nice and even APOLOGIAZED to him at the end of the movie, which means that she isn't an asshole 100% of the time because she had the GUTS to apologiaze to him.
No offense to Emmet ofc but I think that a lotta ppl also forget that Emmet did pushed some of her boundaries when they first met even after she told him that she had a boyfriend at the time, so Lucy isn't 100% wrong.
Idk, while Lucy isn't the best character of all times, ppl really forget that she's at least trying the very least.
If anything, pin the blame on the writers for making her dislikable, not on the character herself.
I really don't like to say this but I kinda lost my motivation to keep working on my series I was writing over the last months.
It's not because I hate the lego movie or writing fics about it. I really liked to write lego fics! I'm just not in the mood anymore to keep going with my series. My motivation kinda sucks already, plus my autistic brain is mostly too tired to do anything.
So yeah, from now on, there may be some lego fics that I may write, but they won't be tied to my series anymore.
