“stain is NOT benrey… because…”
so after watching hl2vrai act 1 and getting to this part (which everyone has brought up by this point)
i rewatched scorpy’s chronicles of benry, and i think some elements from the video may have gotten a new meaning upon rewatch, mostly regarding hl2vrai and stain (and benrey, obviously), stuff that might have been foreshadowing this whole time
now i think scorpy’s chronicles of benry is an art piece that can have many interpretations depending on how you view it based on your own experiences, it isn’t JUST about benrey… but with what we’ve seen from act 1 of hl2vrai, and whatever the fuck is going on with stain, and the fact that the menu is there, gordon slightly approached it like “address me” and it’s the reason im even making this analysis, i made some observations because uhh idk i love overanalyzing the stupidest shit
i won’t delve that much into every single detail i noticed that made me go “HEY WAIT MAYBE THIS IS ABOUT STAIN” but still feel like mentioning them and comparing them (some of this is stretching but whatever this is hlvrai we’re talking about how are you not gonna find meaning in random bullshit)

- the change and distortion of benrey’s colors (mostly blue to purple to red, as also seen in the thumbnail of the video)
- what the texts say (“Another soul claimed”, “You are so funny!”, “YOU CANNOT STOP”, “You are so nice!”, “THIS MAY BE YOUR LAST CHANCE”, “LEAVE”, “Try something new! :)”, “Feel better?”)
- the removal of recognizable features
-the sendoff and what’s left behind
and the nightlight questions
so from what we can understand from this part of the video, the main theme on chronicles of benry is the loss of self and identity, both metaphorical and maybe literal, and it begs the questions of what is change
“what have you given up to be who you are now?” what parts of yourself (wether physical, emotional, spiritual or mental) have you let go of to change into the person you are right now?
“how do you regain a feeling that fades the more you depend on it?” if you didn’t want to change, if you wanted to stay the same way you were before, how do you hold on to your old self, to the memories and the feelings that had shaped you into the person that you were and how you felt towards yourself and others?
“how much of it is up to you?” is this change really up to you or is it up to someone or something else, external factors outside of your control that will force you to give up who you were
“how do you know when its time to let go?” when will you accept the loss of your old self, let go of everything, and give in to become someone new?
if you changed literally everything about yourself and became someone new, is it still you?
and if any of this really is connected to stain and benrey and hl2vrai
because how can someone still be the same person if they’ve been stripped away from their original appearance, and hold none of the memories or lived experiences of who they used to be?
can someone really be perfectly reshaped into a completely new person without any slips of the old self?
can someone regain what they lost to go back to who they were before?
anyways im looking too deep into this shit lol, don’t take any of this seriously because its probably nothing
oh also there’s that whole segment at the end of scorpy’s COB with the Nightlight Experiment and the compilation of clips from old children’s cartoons (Barney the Dinosaur, Little Bear, idk if i missed another but basically old childhood nostalgia tv shows), and at the end of hl2vrai act 1 when the rugrats song plays during baby protocol stain mentions that that was the song he heard when he first woke up for the first time, idk if that’s really important but also mentioning it too
