Happy día de la memoria lets not forget the United States of America are responsible for the Operación Cóndor and all the military dictatorships imposed in South America during the 70s
Let’s not forget either that the United States isn’t the only responsible, even if the Operación Cóndor was ideated by Kissinger it was carried out by the argentinian military and it wouldn’t have happened without the support of certain argentinian sectors (i’m speaking as an argentinian but i’m guessing it applies to all countries affected). The point of this post isn’t to blame solely the United States, but to recognize that it is partially responsible. Every March 24th we are reminded of our thousands of dead and missing and the average United States citizen isn’t even aware of their country’s involvement in this. When someone from the US says “we should help Venezuela” or “we should intervene in Bolivia” this is what they’re calling for. US backed dictatorships.
