As politely as possible, I think your first Red Bull Oscar anon (and maybe even your second one) is letting their fandom for Oscar color their vision of the situation. Firstly, I don’t think Max has any kind of special eye on Oscar, and the “not Oscar” comment was 100% about getting a dig at Lando, not a prop towards Oscar’s skills (which, to be clear, I do rate). Other comments from Max and his side about “team orders” was about stirring the pot and media mind-games, because as you say, McLaren does try their hardest to be fair (do they always succeed? Clearly not, for both drivers.) Webber reducing his role with Oscar to “negotiate under the table” is so ludicrous as to be straight conspiracy. Red Bull brass (Horner, Marko, tbh idk about Mekies, but as someone else has already said he’s probably got more on his plate rn) have not stopped talking about wanting Lando since he was in the feeder categories, and aside from an odd comment or two being made during the title fight about wanting his teammate, all that’s come out in the aftermath of the 2025 season’s conclusion makes it clear that they really do view Lando as the one who got away. In all, the continued talks about "where Oscar should go next to move up in the world" is crazy to me (and I think when it comes from his team, tbh, causes a lot of unnecessary tension), because there's not anywhere he could go for the foreseeable future that would be better for his career
i know, like the idea that... what, max respects oscar more than other drivers and therefore wants him as a teammate?? max doesn't want a teammate he respects. he wants to beat his teammate by a large margin and there to be no doubt he's the number one driver. that quote when checo was beating him in the first part of the season, like, i am never letting that happen again, and then he engaged death star mode and he never did.
the line where horner said he'd choose oscar over lando was after lando had told the press he'd said no to red bull so okay sounds like bitter grapes. and then yeah, all the subsequent quotes from various people when they were so overtly trying to play mind games during the title race. max in drive to survive literally like, well yeah i say stuff to fuck with them because it annoys them. like WE KNOW THAT'S QUITE CLEAR ACTUALLY.
from what i can tell the only like "case against mclaren" when people are mad about oscar not being treated fairly is the driver swap and i would love it if someone made a table of every time a team had made their drivers swap positions during the season because i genuinely think mclaren are lower than almost any other. ferrari are often swapping drivers like once or twice a race! but because they don't call it "sexy red horse rules" no one is making fun of it.
like truly i think the greatest crime mclaren committed was just giving stuff names because once it's named it's easier to make fun of. papaya rules aka don't crash into each other aka the extremely normal rule all teams have for their drivers. "repercussions" which was pit lane order and i mean i don't know how other teams decide it but literally all teams have to choose who goes out first. all this is extremely normal stuff minus the ~power of naming.
i think oscar is absolutely being treated fine and is having incredible professional success - he was literally leading most of last season?????????? in DTS, oscar's there driving his boss's sexy cars, meanwhile there's freaking franco being verbally abused on camera, like if anyone needs to be saved it's franco.
in conclusion, save franco. if you see oscar zooming around in his new mclaren supercar living his best papaya life, don't try to save him. he's right where he wants to be.
