Rising back out of my grave (so sorry I have been inactive I forget that tumblr is a platform I can actually post my own thoughts to and not just admire others) to talk about Fairly OddParents again.
This time more specifically about my own headcanons
More specifically about The Darkness in particular
The Darkness is NOT just some Cosmic Horror
Not on its own, at least. I don't think it's just a planet either. While it is a celestial body of some kind, I think it's actually closer to being its own deity. Of which there are honestly quite a few in FOP, so I'd imagine it'd fit right in.
Except at first it doesn't. We see the Darkness get blasted away into space over the years by people who are afraid of it and don't understand it until Timmy Turner but I'm getting there-
Clearly if it were some kind of force of nature, it should be remembered for what it can do.
Except we don't see this ourselves at its peak until later on in its own special. More specifically, at the beginning of the third and final part.
This is where I'm beginning to bring up my goat Timmy Turner again. After he sacrifices himself to the Darkness at the end of the second part, its stated to "hold him close to its heart", and proceeds to have him live out a terrible day for him and then his best- which presumably would keep happening until he's rescued.
The Darkness itself is Purgatory, and its 'heart' is the Realm of Limbo. To me
It keeps things- people- in perpetual uncertainty. Without people knowing its purpose that's still plenty intimidating on its own- especially when it was acting like a Black Hole throughout Wishology but that's a whole other ramble I'll maybe get into sometime
The lack of awareness and its entailing fade into obscurity got so bad that it had to devise a whole prophecy and endorse a Champion (another thing I'll maybe expand on later) just to be brought back into relevance again so that it wouldn't be remembered as some ancient, cosmic evil.
Does any of this make sense??? Explaining my own thoughts is so hard when I constantly second guess every word I'm typing into this draft right now.
Needless to say, the other gods would probably owe it a favor at some point in time after the whole Wishology debacle.
If people actually like this enough for want to me to expand on my own headcanon verse/AU I guess, I could maybe expand on other things.. maybe even Timmy being its Champion and consequently unknowing becoming the Heir to Limbo at some point..
