Ceroscopy/Carromancy (Wax Scrying)đŻđź
I'm looking at a different type of divination that I don't see much about here that I use every once in a while. Ceroscopy (or sometimes also known as Carromancy or "wax scrying") is interpreting symbols, images or letters in melted wax that gets dripped and cooled in a bowl of cold water.
I don't use this type of divination often but it is handy to use when you want answers that aren't just yes or no to a few questions of the same subject (e.g: Relationships, Career, etc)
Ceroscopy is a bit more tricky than tarot and pendulum work, as the interpretation of the answers rely on you to make them out. There's no strict guide like with Tarot cards for what shapes the wax make, it's entirely based on your intuition. However, the symbols should make sense to you (e.g: You may ask "Am I going to fall in love this year?", the wax may make the shape of a heart, it may make a figurine of two people, it may make out a figurine of just one person, etc). So how do you go about it?
What you need:
An Unscented Candle (You can use white but colour can matter, I used red in my last reading as that session was about my romantic relationships, past and present. It depends on the subject of the reading. You can also either use a pillar of a candlestick.)
I used Moon Water but any water, so long as it's cold, will work.
A Bowl
Incense (Not necessary but an incense scent that's aligned with the subject of the reading can help relax or enhance the reading. I used rose incense for this session about relationships, you get the idea)
A notebook (To write down your questions and the answers as thoughts can come and go quickly)
What to do:
I recommend cleansing the space and your supplies (Candle, water and bowl) thoroughly before you cast your circle, put up wards, whatever pre-ritual tasks you need to do for protection. Cleansing will make sure nothing impacts the answers.
Depending on the type of candle, with pillar candles, light it and wait for a pool of wax big enough to use. This may take about 10 to 15 minutes with a pillar candle. Use this time to meditate and achieve a clear state of mind before the reading and to wrote down your questions. With candlesticks you don't have to wait for the wax to melt but do meditate beforehand.
When you think you've gotten enough wax, snuff the pillar candle out and pick it up. Ask your question just like you would using tarot or a pendulm and continue to think about the question as you pour the wax into the water. Don't go too fast, especially if you're looking for letters, but don't go too slow either, allow the wax to half drip/half pour. With a candlestick turn it sideways over the water and it will drip on it's own.
Allow the wax to cool and harden before interpreting the symbols in it. Look at the shapes and see what the wax has formed, your intuition will begin to pick out shapes, objects, numbers or letters within the wax drippings. Don't be afraid to pick it up and examine underneath too as there may be more symbols there. Write down your thoughts as they come, review them once they've stopped to see how your answer fits together.
Dispose of the wax or repurpose it (use it for wax seals, add a scent to it for an oil burner, etc), dispose of the water outside in the garden or use it to water plants. Waste not, want not.
End the session and cleanse once more, do what you would usually do at the end of divination sesh or ritual.
An example of some shapes the wax makes/looks like:
In response to the question: "Show me the first letter of the first name of my future wife/partner?"
'e'
In response to "How do I maintain my current relationship as it's going/what can I do to improve it?"
I interpreted this as opening up, as it looks like a person stretching and that's an issue I've been struggling with for a long time but have been slowly getting better at the past year.
The last one I'm showing is "Are there any issues that may affect my relationships I should be worried about in the next year?"
An 'a', the wax here came out darker than the last few answers despite using the same red candle, which I'm not exactly thrilled about as I know what the answer probably is and the implication of it.
Those are just some examples of the answers I got in this session and honestly it's pretty on point, the answers made sense to me.
I honestly enjoy Ceroscopy whenever I do use it, it's always a relaxing experience. It is a nice method to use if you want to try something different from Tarot or using a Pendulum or are looking to better your interpretation skills/sharpen your intuition. I haven't seen it practiced much or seen many posts about it as it seems pretty obscure but hopefully that may change and other witches may give it a go. Happy scrying!
This looks so intricate and personal I love it
We leave the lid off of this snail terrarium and they wander the kitchen causing trouble periodically đđđ
My deck's response to me asking what I should do about my financial situation... Feels kind of sassy.
Is it just me or is everyone craving yellow crystals rn?? Everyone I know hit an energy low recently, is this widespread?

My tools are always very particular about the direction they face. My blue quartz ascendant star (on top) turned itself backwards the first couple months I had it. Even when I tried to carefully get it turned the right way I'd still get confused and put it back on backwards again. Now my green obsidian has begun turning itself around so that the topaz crown faces me. I've noticed a major boost in my intuition since its started doing that.
Do y'all have any experience with tools flipping themselves around?

Tasseography
âąTea leaf readingâą
You might be wondering where this unusual form of divination came from, so hereâs a short history on tasseography. Shortly after tea was introduced to Europe, tea leaf reading, as itâs now recognized, was born. Similar divination tools had been used with an assortment of other materials. The art of tea leaf reading spread through Europe, and is now practiced throughout the world.
Doing a tea leaf reading involves you indulging in a delicious cup of tea and putting your sharp intuitive skills to work. After you enjoy your warm cup of loose leaf tea, youâll leave the loose tea leaves at the bottom, where some of these leaves will form symbols, each having their own meaning. Thatâs where your keen intuitive abilities come in! Anyone can see a triangle at the bottom of a teacup, but your job is to intuit what it means for you or the person youâre reading for.
WHAT YOU NEED FOR A TEA LEAF READING
Tea cup with a wide brim thatâs light enough to easily see your tea leaves.
Saucer
Loose leaf green or black tea, preferably organic.
Napkins
Pen and paper
Water
HOW TO PERFORM A TEA LEAF READING
1. BREW YOUR TEA
Gather all of your materials. Boil your water. Place about a teaspoon of loose tea in your cup. Pour your water in and steep tea to your preference.
For the next 3 steps, if youâre doing a reading for someone else, have them do the following steps.
2. SIP & SWIRL
Before you take your first sip, gently swirl tea counter clockwise three times. Sip and enjoy your tea, but donât drink it all! When thereâs about 1 tablespoon of tea left in your cup, swirl it again 3 times counter clockwise and think about or speak your query aloud.
3. CREATE YOUR TEA READING CANVAS
Turn your cup upside down onto your saucer to remove the remaining water, allow it a minute or so to drain, then turn it back up right.
4. LOOK FOR SYMBOLS
Look over your loose leaf tea pieces and see if any symbols or shapes jump out to you immediately. Donât fret if you donât see anything immediately, similar to scrying with a crystal ball, it can take some time for imagery to form for you. Try looking at the inside of the cup from different directions to see shapes. Keep in mind the images formed are formed from tea leaves, so you will really need to use your imagination.
5. RECORD & DECIPHER YOUR FINDINGS
If you do start to see some shapes, begin writing them down on your piece of paper so you can decipher them later, note where in the cup they are too. Now youâre ready to decipher your findings! Hereâs a guide for the most common symbols found during tea leaf readings:
6. UNDERSTAND THE TIMELINE
Where your tea leaves are situated in your cup relate to when they will happen. This is why some of the tea leaf reading cups you find have circles inside of them. Timing is broken into thirds as follows:
Bottom third: farthest away from happening, think 3-5 years out.
Top third: will be happening in the near future, think within the next few weeks.
Middle third: will happen in about a year from now.
7. FORM YOUR READING
Like most divination tools, a honed intuition is key for success, so be sure to lean on any gut instincts as you form the story for your reading. Once you understand the meaning behind the symbols itâs time to put all of the information into a story that makes sense for you or the person youâre doing a reading for.

They also believed bees were the surviving souls of the priestesses who served the Goddess Aphrodite.Â

Bees in Magick:
Bees are closely associated with the fae and their presence in gardens which indicates blessings of fae. Encourage the bees, by putting up bee houses, hives, planting bee-friendly plants and waterers and not using pesticides. Thus, encouraging the blessings from the fae, while harming bees can anger them and cause them to seek revenge.Â
The symbol of a bee can be used to seal a spell with sweetness for one who appreciates good will and a sting for one who takes it for granted or doesnât keep his end of the bargain.Â
Honey stirred into your tea can âsweetenâ your day.Â
Honey is used often in magick to sweeten a situation.
Anointing your lips with honey will make your words sound sweeter.Â
Bees in your dreams:
May be a good omen.
Bees in your dreams may be telling you to take a look at your social networks. They may be pointing toward a desire for more harmonious and functional relationships, or celebrating the ones you already have.
A visit from a bee in a dream may also be notifying you that a friend or family member needs to speak with you. You will know as this person will also pop into your mind somehow. It means call them or perhaps, that you will hear from them soon.
Dreaming of a beehive usually relates to the home and family or your business and coworkers. A happy, buzzing hive means a happy, buzzing home. It may foretell incoming abundance, and fruitful times ahead. If the bees are swarming around the hive, rather than working in it, proceed with caution. There is a lack of harmony that is interfering with productivity.
A swarm of bees may indicate that you feel that a group of people upon whose cooperation you rely is becoming chaotic and out of control. Perhaps the need to balance your own interactions with your different business and social groups for your own sanity.
Beehives bring to mind abundance and prosperity: bees seem to work hard and are rewarded by flowing stores of honey. An empty beehive, then, represents the opposite: lost opportunity and financial misfortune.
A beehive can also represent a home. The fullness or emptiness of the beehive may indicate unconscious feelings about family life, marriage, children, or the house itself. Honey may represent your property or belongings.
A beehive on fire or burned bees are often interpreted depending on your emotional and physical condition. Burned bees may mean you are overcoming fear and want to take control of life and anger, are youâre progressing through life with more confidence without any fear of obstacles. Burned beehives can also mean you have lost something precious, like money, a relationship, or some valuable information that youâve forgotten or ignored.
If a bee or a swarm of bees is chasing you in dream, it may mean there is some unsettled business or a memory that haunts you. Make sure you let it go from your mind or deal with it in order to avoid these bees.
If you dream about getting a bee sting then something may be bothering you, or you have a persistent annoyance in your life. Concerns about your relationship, career, finance, or some unknown issue is bugging your subconscious mind. Find out what it is and sort it out.
Magickal uses for Honey:
Can be used in binding spells to symbolically stick things together.
Used for offerings to fae and deities.
Can sweeten a person or a situation.
 Honey is sacred to Aphrodite.
Can be used in spells corresponding to purification, health, love, happiness, spirituality, wisdom, good fortune, fertility,Â
Use certain types of honey that corresponded with your spell.
Bathe in warm water and honey to attract love.
A dish filled with honey can attract angels and beneficial spirits.

Candle reading made easy
Hey loves, I donât want to make this post suuuper long so imagine me blowing a welcome kiss to all of you and letâs get startedâŠ
The generic practice of reading fire is called pyromancy.Â
We can break a candle reading session down to 3 main parts:
Observation (flame watching)
Gathering & understanding (decoding fireâs messages)
Final question & Goodbye (ask if thereâs anything else you should know before leaving, thank and salute fire/salamanders)
During the observation phase, watch for:
Length of the flame 1-2 min to know WHEN-the timing = PAST
Shape of the flame 2-3 min to know WHAT-the actual matter = PRESENT
Direction & behavior of the flame 3-4 min to know HOW-the true nature of it = hints at the FUTURE (see where the fire is pointing to know what type of matter it is; concentrate on the opposite direction telling you how to counteract to solve or banish whatever it might be; it also indicates what elemental energy is strongly supporting/protecting you in taking action as well as in related spellwork)
Presence/Absence of Smoke 2-3 min to understand the SOURCE of your awarenessÂ
*Keep a compass handy!
Salamanders/fire will try to communicate with you as soon as you light the fire/candle so pay attention from the very beginning. Fire energy is impulsive, blunt, active, carefree and wild. This type of divination detects negativity like WOW because it easily speaks the brutally honest truth regardless of how you feel or whatâs happening. It brings up issues that we refuse to deal with. Again, itâs pure blunt energy. Because of its wild nature, fire will also charge us with optimism and explosive determination to overcome problems and bad news: typically after pyromancy we feel motivated and âready to goâ.
Length
Long-extra long: something has been bothering you for a very long time now (trust your intuition, probably for years) which you never actively faced; youâve been quiet for too long; unsolved problems from the past are challenging your patience; relevant stuff that had to be cleared much earlier
Medium: Something that has been lurking in the back of your mind for 1-3 months, a plan or an idea that could change/shake your life but is not currently a priority to you; it might be something you heard from another person or a vague thought
Short: something intense that happened within the last couple days, a very recent thing is bothering you and has almost caught you by surprise; unexpected news from day to day, a new sudden event that physically or emotionally shook you
ShapeÂ
Double: Two things that were generated consequentially or have a common link, two entities/people united by a common theme
Super-thin line: Something you felt or suspected but never had proof of evidence about, a subtle suspicion, a doubt, an insinuation; a sneaky or secretive individual
Regular: Something/someone that you accept and is part of your routine, your own mindset, something very close and not disturbing; a solid milestone in your daily life
Round:Â One thing in particular that constantly âfills you upâ, makes you feel complete, full, exploding or either extremely delighted; a person who represses/suppresses you, someone ghosting you on purpose just to humble you or to make you feel lesser
Behavior
Steady: things are happening in the background, far from the âpublic eyeâ and without you even realizing; you - and people around you- are calm, clueless, peaceful and the surroundings seem safe; good vibes are in the air but definitely keep your eyes open and intuition awake
Shaky, wiggly: things are visibly happening before your eyes, making you confused, uneasy or giving you mood swings; anxiety; you are able to feel bad vibes around you: take control of the situation and protect yourself Weak, petite & almost extinguished: matter/person X is now annihilating you before the eyes of everybody, but still no one defends you; seek help in others, protect yourself and take action to win this ripe, suffered battle
Directions
EAST: AIR - communication, mindset, mental/spoken/written things, logical reasoning, ideas, plans, spring, morning, sunrise, masculine⊠WEST: WATER - emotions, unconscious, gut feelings, passivity, illogical reasoning, intangibility, blue, flow, moisture, fall, sunset, feminine⊠SOUTH: FIRE - action, guidance, strength, activity, blood, warmth, creativity, masculine, red, impulse, summer, noon⊠NORTH: EARTH - stability, firmness, art, finance, grounding, material things, tangibility, stillness, death, birth, winter, midnight, green⊠(+ ALL YOUR PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE about the elements and how they can be interpreted, what meanings they have in our lives and their specific correspondences)Â
Smoke
Absence: you are the source of awareness: your body and soul have sent you signals about matter X and you had an inner awakening which led you to this readingÂ
Presence: someone else enlightened you with their words and made you fully aware of matter X; something popped up as an obvious proof that you werenât expecting to find: this has awakened your inquisitive mind and led it to this reading.Â
