Honestly, Rick Rolling is the best practical joke ever. Like, thereâs nothing offensive or mean  spirited about it. Itâs just like âOops you thought there would be something else here but itâs âNever Gonna Give You Upâ.â which isnât even a bad song. Itâs fairly enjoyable to listen to. Thereâs no jumpscares, no screaming, no ill will. Just Rick Astley telling you heâs never going to give you up. I think thatâs great. âYou fell into my trap! Here, listen to this completely benign song that will have no negative effect on you.âÂ
I wish this were true. Thereâs a really good article about the problems inherent with rickrolling here.

Oh my god!!! Perfection.
I Had This Friend in Elementary and Middle School
He was a total dork and nobody liked him, but my mom thought he was pretty cool so she encouraged me to hang out with him and I did and we got along and had a lot of fun together. We were in Boy Scouts together and went to the same church and in the end, it turned out we had a lot in common and built up a little core group of friends that (of course) imploded upon our introduction to the social weirdness of High School (we went from a middle school with about 800 students to a high school with about 3000.)
But he and I got along.Â
It was clear to me that his family didnât have much money. Their house was run down, their cars were ancient, they lived in a not-great part of town. This had no influence on how I felt about them. My family has always been well-off and my parents never wanted me to only hang out with kids that were like me. But it did strike me as weird that his dad had a cell phone.Â
This was the early 90s or late 80s, so a cell phone was a huge extravagance. Seeing a cell phone in his 70â˛s VW made no sense. It was like seeing a farmer with a Rolex. So I brought it up with my mom one day. I donât know how it came up, but I told her the dad was stupid for wasting money on a cell phone when they didnât have much money to go around for the family.Â
She gave me a Mom look. A fiery, terrifying, majestic Mom look that immediately terrified me.
âWhy do you think he might have a phone?â
âFor calling people and stuff.â
âHe has a phone for work. His work pays for it, they need to get a hold of him quickly.â
She told me that his job was repairing broken stuff for movie theaters and restaurants which donât want to wait around for next Tuesday before the refrigerator turns back on, so he was pretty much always driving around and always on call.
âThink about that next time you judge a person who has less than you. You never know everything about other peopleâs lives.â
It was really unpleasant. It was one of those moments when my mother could have decided to go easy on me and to be kind and understanding and think âWell, he didnât know, so why make him feel bad.â Instead she was like, âYou need to feel bad now. Feel bad, child, because otherwise why will you ever change?â
So thank you to my mom for always helping me be betterâŚevery day of my life so far.
Ha! After #milifandom was trending yesterday the Tories have got #cameronettes trending today. Although the #cameronettes hashtag is just full of people pointing out that #milifandom happened organically but #cameronettes has been created by the Tories. I think itâs also worth pointing out that, unlike #milifandom, #cameronettes is an inherently gendered term. It seems that the Tories want people to believe that Cameron is fanciableâŚbut âno homo!â

This oneâs for the #millifandom
a conversation i had with a 96-year-old woman
96 yr old: You know how your parents probably say things like, "you were BORN with the internet, you don't know what it's like to live without!"
Me: yeah
96 yr old: Well, my parents said that to me about electricity.
IMPORTANT Please be careful posting anything personal and tagging it âdonât reblogâ or âdo not reblogâ or any variation. Apparently this blog tracks that tag and will intentionally reblog your post. They reblogged a personal one of mine and Iâm very uncomfortable; please watch what you tag.
Tip- if you end a tag with a / then it canât be searched and wonât show up in the Tumblr search, I believe. So instead of â#do not reblogâ, you can use â#do not reblog/â and it should be safer.
Punk has gone liberal?
Punk has always been liberal. People just mask their liberalism with edgy new rhetoric every couple of years.
i feel like this is a really white conversation....

On today, the date of his passing, let us not forget that Leonard Nimoy was well, well more than Mr. Spock.
The photo above is part of one of his photography series: The Full Body Project
From an NPR Interview (here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=15912659Â )
"⌠It began with an individual lady who came to me after a presentation I was doing. It was a seminar of some previous work. And she said to me youâre working with a particular body-type model, which was true at the time. She said, Iâm not of that type; Iâm of a different body type. Will you be interested in working with me? And she was a very, very large lady. And this was in Northern California - I have a home up there - and we invited her to our studio in the home and photographed her there. And that was the first time I had photographed a person of that size and shape, that kind of body type, and it was scary. I was uncomfortable, nervous - my wife was there to help. I was not sure exactly how to go about it or whether I would do her justice. I didnât know quite how to treat this figure. And I think thatâs a reflection of something thatâs prevalent in our culture. I think, in general, we are sort of conditioned to see a different body type as acceptable and maybe look away when the other body type arrives. It was my first introduction of that kind of work. And when I showed some of that work, there was a lot of interest. And it led me to a new consciousness about the fact that so many people live in body types that are not the type thatâs being sold by fashion models."
jk rowling said that dracoâs patronus is unknown because he never learned the spell but i think itâs because he has no powerful, happy memories to use
Why you play these mind games with me?
You know whatâs fun? Reclaiming your femininity after years of feeling and acting like you couldnât be âgirlyâ because âgirlyâ things were âbad.â Man Iâll fuck you up with red lipstick on while wearing a sun dress and drinking a wine cooler, donât think I wonât.
the dress was blue and black in the books but was predictably cast as white and gold in the film adaptation

Waterbears can go without food or water for more than a decade. They can survive temperatures from zero to above the boiling point of water, pressure six times stronger than the deepest ocean trench, radiation hundreds of times higher than the fatal dose for a human, and the vacuum of space.
but everything comes at a price son of a bitch looks like a dick
Guys you donât know the half it. Tardigrades, or waterbears, (or moss piglets, how cute is that?) are the coolest things in the entire world. They pretty much live everywhere on earth, and all they do is amble around drinking water. But if their life is in danger, they shrivel up into this little raisin thing and they can survive practically anything. There was a piece of moss sitting dry in a museum for a century. Some scientists wetted the moss, and they woke back up. Just started drinking the water again. They have survived as near to absolute zero as science has allowed us to get. Theyâve woken up after being subjected to 6 times the radiation lethal to humans, even though they are about 3 millimeters in length on average. NASA sent them into orbit and they were released into the vacuum of space for ten days. They woke up. So what does this mean? Scientists believe this may help to prove the existence of live elsewhere in the universe, and how life came to Earth. If there are creatures that can survive the emptiness of space, whoâs to say an asteroid didnât carry some from one planet to ours?
