When Wolves comes on in the club

Oh wow, it’s almost as if I only learned St*n Lee actually wasn’t the hero I looked up to my whole 24 years of life within the last eight months and that I had a hard, complicated time yesterday because my first, very human, reaction was to mourn!! It’s almost as if it takes time to kill your love for your heroes!!! Do you think it is easy for me, as a survivor of assault, as a bisexual Person of Color, as a kid who LOVED what he represented in the world of comics, ALL AT THE SAME TIME, to have learned these things about him recently? No. And just because some people have an easier time disengaging from his legacy doesn’t mean that’s my experience.

I cried yesterday. A lot more than I thought I would. Because in my mind, I had already tried to cold turkey not feel a way about it. And here I am, 24 hours later, writing a piece acknowledging the awful parts of his legacy as a way to heal and let him go!!!!

Y’all have GOT to let go of the word “stanning” because me saying “he died and I’m trying really hard not to be upset but I am” isn’t stanning in the slightest. I never ONCE defended his bad behavior.
