This handsome fella frequents our garden, and over the last few days he's been sitting on the fence cooing loudly until I come out and talk to him. He'll always lead me into the corner of the garden in the shade and he'll coo some more until I talk to him.

Speckled Wood-Pigeon (Columba hodgsonii)
Large uniquely colored pigeon, both sexes have silvery checkered neck feathers, a maroon back, black-speckled breast, and white spots on the wings. Males have pale-gray heads and pinkish-silver breasts, while females have grayish-brown heads and a less vibrant breast color. Lives in much of Asia. Commonly found in mid to high-altitude hill forests and open valley bottoms. Quiet and rarely vocalize, but will sometimes make a deep throaty whock-whooo-whoo” which is often used as an alarm signal.
