Hi there, where do you get your pigeons?? I’ve been wanting a bird for a few years and think pigeons might be it but I don’t know where to start looking
Hello!!
I would strongly suggest looking for rescues near you who may have pigeons in need of homes! I personally AM a rescue - so the vast majority of my pigeons are brought to me as either surrendered pets, victims of hoarding or neglect, racing or ex-racing pigeons, or orphaned/injured feral pigeons.
Miss Swissy, for example, was a baby rescued from a terrible neglect case (before and after below):
Joy (left) and Skye (right) are both domestic birds that were injured while released - Joy was a wedding release pigeon, and Skye was a racing pigeon.
Orphan (left) and Lake (right) were both born wild and came into captivity after sustaining injuries that made them non-releasable.
I could go on for a very long time lol, but those are just some examples. So yes I strongly encourage speaking with a rescue!!! There are always more pigeons needing help than people willing to adopt them, and every person who expresses interest in adopting pigeons makes my day. They are a wonderful companion bird and I truly wish more people realized how awesome they were!
Also, no pressure anon, but if you would like to send me a general idea of your location privately, I can try to recommend a rescue in your area!

Orb-ing on his nest
Do you know why birds move their heads like that? :o Like very quick
I'm so sorry, looks like this is an old ask and I'm not sure what post it's referring to. Generally speaking though birds are prey animals and so are on constant high alert - which means they are constantly moving their heads to survey their surroundings, flicking their tails, walking/jumping, etc!
Sorry for your loss :(
I'm so sorry that I just saw this, but thank you so much, I really do appreciate it ❤️
I love her so much........my little cheese
After we lost Huron, I knew I wanted to get another dove as a companion for Peachy. I also knew that it wasn't something I wanted to rush & something would come along when the time was right.
Well. I got a call about 4 flight cages of ringneck doves with 5-10 doves in EACH cage. Obviously taking all of them was not feasible, but I agreed to take a cage.
They're a bit ragged from overcrowding, but such sweet birds despite everything. They're settling in really well and I'm planning to introduce Peach soon, hopefully she will be able to make some friends ❤️🩹

Surprise Orphan has become a Surprise Grown Man. Genuinely insane how fast the time flies.
Ante has been fostering a pigeon chick for me, and the little sucker is already nearly as big as she is, lol.
