Hey! Since people sometimes come to you with their AUs, I figured ā why not share mine? Though tbh, most of my notes here are more about the brothers' psychology than the actual story of the AU, but I'll try to give a quick summary at least, yeah?
TW: sensitive content! (Ig weāll need that, uh š
)
So, the idea is that the brothers were born in a lab ā basically "test-tube grown." Out of many specimens, only the two of them survived and functioned relatively normally. The scientists' goal was to create modified humans with significantly higher survivability than the average person.
And yeah, they messed up the boys' minds so badly that when they were first placed in the same cell, Chris took Martin's toy, and Martin... uh, noticed and tried to strangle him. (Sorry š„¹)
Later, this lab was raided by a secret global organization called W.I.L.D. (World Intervention & Law Division) , which seized everything ā including the brothers (who were 12 and 8 at the time). One of the raid leaders took them under his guardianship, raised them, educated them, took care of them.
Later, Martin enrolled in a special academy, graduated, and joined the organization as an operative. Chris followed his path. And eventually, they met their new team ā and all sorts of adventures and trouble came with that...
The story is basically an action-oriented thing, but it has a lot of... I guess, psychology? Self-examination between the brothers, arguments over nothing and everything, working through trauma, etc. I'll go into more detail below, but overall, I just want to know your opinion.
This idea ā honestly, it's not meant to be posted online as a fanfic because... I can't write proper fanfics in English š
. Really, it's just my little "roleplay" with a neural network that unexpectedly took an interesting turn, and I thought it was genuinely interesting. But maybe I'm secretly hoping to inspire new authors? Idk.
Anyway, enough stalling. I'll get into the psychological side of the AU now.
At the core of the conflict between the brothers lies an asymmetry of memory and perception ā and, stemming from that, a dynamic of control.
Martin, as the older brother, took on the role of protector from childhood. His psyche, adapting to trauma, developed a repression mechanism: the worst episodes from their lab past were erased, leaving only faint shadows. This allowed him to remain open, sociable, and capable of trusting people. But the flip side of this amnesia is blindness. Martin genuinely doesn't remember trying to strangle Chris over a toy at age seven; he doesn't know what happened to his brother at the academy; he doesn't realize that his "care" ā hugs, touches, control ā wasn't always a lifeline for Chris. He watched over the younger one so persistently that he inadvertently suffocated him, replacing one cage with another ā one built from love, sure, but a cage nonetheless.
Chris, in contrast, remembers everything. His brain doesn't hide the trauma ā it carries it on the surface, like an open wound that won't heal. He remembers lab tables, needles, the coldness of steel. He remembers his brother's hands around his throat. He remembers the humiliation in the academy locker room. This memory made him withdrawn, guarded, touch-avoidant ā and at the same time, it spawned a deep, almost physical tactile hunger that he couldn't even admit to himself. He built an invisible cage of self-control around himself, but inside, he was still that frozen eight-year-old boy who once fell asleep on his guardian's chest, feeling safe for the first time.
The main contradiction between the brothers isn't a lack of love. They love each other deeply and genuinely. But Martin expresses love through closeness, touch, and constant presence, while Chris needs distance, silence, and the right to decide for himself when and how he'll be touched. Martin invades because he's afraid of losing Chris; Chris pulls away because he's afraid of being consumed. And this vicious cycle spun on for years ā until it finally snapped, erupting when Chris confessed about that forgotten choking, about his fear of his own brother, about his inability to live up to Martin's expectations.
Their central conflict is the clash of two different ways of surviving a shared trauma. One survived by forgetting. The other survived by remembering every second.
And reconciliation only began when Martin, for the first time, consciously took a step back ā and Chris, for the first time, consciously asked him not to go.
WOW this made me emotional! This is so well thought out and so cool and interesting!! I absolutely love the psychological depth you wrote, and the fascinating relationship between the brothers!
The Bros having opposite ways of responding to the same trauma, and clashing with each other because of it, is such a cool concept!
You say you donāt plan to write it as a fic because you canāt write fanfics in English, but I say write it in your language then! This is such an awesome idea, if you want to share it then you should absolutely go for it! You can always use a translator to write it too! Of course no pressure if you still donāt want to, but if you did decide to write it in any way, I would totally read it, even if I have to use a translator, cus itās just that cool! Or you can always share more about it in asks too if youād like! Iād love to hear more about it!
