Rocky finds out about Ryland's father and invents time travel to best the shit out of him. Featuring mini Ryland, Colt, and Cort.

Today has Colt jumping off the roof of Grace’s eridian house as a stunt because he’s bored while Ryland and Cort watch and Grace has a panic attack.

Rocky decides that the "Pebble" version of his friend and his brothers get to come back with him. He knows how Earth treated his human (Stratt is on his list but not right now) and thus isn't going to leave the fate of his future bestie to the whims of humanity. He sticks the three kiddos into Adult Grace's biodome.

Little Grace gets called Ryland (for Rocky, he uses whatever the equivalent of eridian Rye for little Ryland's name). Colt's eridian name roughly translate to stunts or tricks, or if Erid has the equivalent of colts then it's just colt. Cort's eridian name is essentially Thrum but the pitches are slightly different because Grace described a court as an important gathering.

Grace kinda blue screens at seeing the younger form of himself, his twin, and his older brother who he hasn’t seen since that day. The brothers are kinda disoriented from the time traveling and aren’t a hundred percent sure this is even real. Cort is holding the twins close because this is unknown and he isn’t letting his brothers get hurt if he could help it.

Grace: Rocky, can I have a word with you? Outside?

Rocky: Yes, yes, must discuss how to take care of Pebble Graces

Grace:..

Grace tells the kids to stay in the house while he goes out to explain to Rocky, that a.) inventing time travel and going back to beat up his father wasn’t necessary and b.) you can’t just kidnap children, Earth has protocols for unfit parents

Erid has protocols for unfit parents too, the pebble gets removed from the original parents and placed into the primary care of another couple. Rocky’s excuse is “Clearly Earth protocols were inefficient in protecting Pebble Graces so Rocky did their jobs for them”

The kids stay with Grace, and now he’s got three traumatized kids to look after. And answer their questions about what they’re like in the future. Obviously they can see how Ryland turned out, but they don’t know about Colt and Cort.

Grace tells them that Colt became a stuntman but he doesn’t know how to approach Cort’s situation. He doesn’t want to lie to the kids, but how do you tell two 9 year olds that their older brother goes to prison for protecting them and how do you tell a 15 year old that he eventually dies in a prison riot?

He ends up telling the, the truth. Cort has two clingy twins for days afterwards and Grace does his best to reassure the kids that a.) that’s not happening this time round, obviously, and b.) He never once blamed Cort for leaving him and his Colt.

The kids join Grace’s science class, and while middle school science is something Cort already learned, he joins in on the class anyway. They use the computers from the Hail Mary to homeschool the rest. They may be stuck in the biodome, but Grace is determined to get the kids their education.

At some point the kids ask Grace how he ended up on a different planet. Grace explains the whole Petrova line and the mission. He doesn't explain how he ended up on the mission. Ryland and Colt are mad at him for leaving his Colt, until Rocky lets it slip about the drugging and the twins proceed to spend a whole day apologizing to Grace and hugging him.

Cort asks Rocky if he could go with him to when he time travels to meet Stratt and talk with her. Grace finds out and tells them noone is going to time travel to talk to Stratt and that if he finds out they did then he'd never talk to them again.

There's a firm "No time traveling" rule on the list of rules set for the kids. (If I think of more rules, I might do another post)

Colt: So… anyone else see the rock spider too right?

Cort, who was about to get the gun: uh huh

How Cort doesn’t show much emotions, which could be attributed to Sierra training, but I also think it started with his father. Cort learned to hide his tears, his fear, even his happiness from his father. And I imagine it got to the point where even showing his emotions around the twins was difficult.

But the Twins both still show emotions.

Colt cries freely to Taylor swift, shows his fear and anger when he gets kidnapped. He shows his emotions.

And Ryland cries freely at just about everything because he can. He doesn’t care to hide his fear at any point.

And I imagine that is partly because of Cort. Who protected them from their father and told them that it was okay to cry, to show fear, to be happy despite what their father said. They may only have been able to show their feelings to Cort, but he made damn sure they knew their father was wrong about “being a man.”

Imagine Cort seeing the twins again when they’re all grown up. And seeing that they both can show their love freely, especially after therapy, in ways Cort never got to do.

Or alternatively: Cort seeing Colt again after Ryland got sent to space and seeing Colt cry and learning that Ryland never hid it either.

Making me pick up physical books for the first time in a year (both the PHM book and The Gray man series cause I’m obsessed with Coltlandgentry)

Read two to three times as much fanfic as I usually do

And be on this hell site consistently, and post consistently-ish, for over a month now.

Like, on a day where their dad is out of the house with the potentially of him not coming back for a couple days, and the twins decide to try and swap places. Except Cort has always been able to tell them apart. They’re his brothers, he’s practically raised them from birth, if anyone can tell them apart it’s him. The twins are a little disappointed that their trick didn’t work, but they continue to swap places at school and that was fun.

Colt Seavers, disaster bisexual

Ryland Grace: Somewhere on the Aroace scale (personal headcanon that’s he’s completely aroace, no romance or sex)

Cause what do you mean there's this huge ass family who all look exactly alike because those genes are strong and they all have their own side adventures going on but they still check in on each other when they can because family is family.

Cortland being a wolf, a creature known for living in packs and working together within that pack to survive, yet he falls into the media trope of lone wolf. Set out alone because that’s all he’s known since losing his brothers.

Colt being a coyote, a creature known often as a trickster in lore but also for its adaptability and cleverness. Colt tricking audiences into believing characters are real and doing these stunts, but also adapting (however badly) to the challenges from his work and staying alive through everything,

And Ryland, the fox. The fox too clever for his own good. Chased out of nearly every place that accepted him and being hunted down by dogs in order to die. The hunted fox running from danger and unable to escape the fate forced upon him because he was intelligent.

Cort, who spent his childhood protecting his brothers (brother in canon), living in the shadows because of his sacrifice to keep his family safe and happy. Who probably doesn’t go a day without thinking about his brothers and how they’re doing. Every now and then looking them up to see how they’re doing.

Sierra Six, who believed for the longest time that he was never going to get a family beyond the close relationship with Fitz, taking in Claire and deciding to give her the best life he can. Letting her live as normal of a life as possible while having to move around on the run. Who probably can see traits of his brothers in her with her attitude and determination.
