i don't see enough people talking about this face, so i will.
(from the bottom of my heart, i hope someone gifs this scene)
i'm sure we have better things to talk about but rn i'm really hung up on the absolutely bananas remix of treachery they were playing overtop byakuya and hitsugaya's tender conversation about fighting for your precious friends
Yuki Kaji on voicing Toshiro Hitsugaya in his completed Bankai form:
(Full comment/context for my previous post here.)
There was some background to the casting in that I was chosen after going through several auditions supervised by Kubo-sensei. Even though I prepared as much as I possibly could before recording, I was still incredibly nervous. After all, BLEACH is a masterpiece of manga history whose serialization began when I was still a student myself. Later, while attending a voice acting school, I watched the anime and remember talking with my classmates about how we wanted to work hard so that someday we might be able to appear in a series like this. And then there was the role itself: Toshiro Hitsugaya, played by Romi Park, an actress I deeply respect from the bottom of my heart and a senior who has also taken great care of me personally over the years. The closer the recording date got, the more my stomach hurt every day. (laughs) To be completely honest… somewhere deep down, I did think, “Wouldn’t this work perfectly well with Park-san’s voice?” But I had heard that this was an intentional change. And once I had been given this opportunity after going through the audition process, I felt there was nothing for me to do except resolve myself to give it everything I had and face the recording. For the audition, we recorded two different versions: one with a lower voice that I initially imagined would suit the body of “completed Bankai Hitsugaya,” and another in which I tried to recreate Hitsugaya’s voice as performed by Park-san as closely as possible. In the end, I was chosen in a direction that leaned more toward Park-san’s vocal tone. Some of the reasons were, “We don’t want to move too far away from the Hitsugaya people already know,” and, “At the same time, we don’t want him to sound too close to Byakuya.” That said, what mattered most was his overall presence. If I were simply imitating Park-san’s voice, then there would have been no point in changing the actor from Park-san to me. So while keeping his tone and manner of speaking in mind, I focused above all on portraying Hitsugaya’s own atmosphere, his masculinity, and the human side of his character. As preparation for the recording, I felt that I needed to carry as many memories as Hitsugaya himself. So I reread the entire original manga from beginning to end and repeatedly listened to Park-san’s performance as Hitsugaya while developing my own portrayal of the character. On the day of recording, I was thankfully able to coordinate my schedule with Park-san’s, so we could record together. That gave me an incredible sense of reassurance. …Of course, that also made the pressure even greater. (laughs) When Park-san told me, “It doesn’t feel strange at all,” I was genuinely relieved. Kubo-sensei was also present in the studio, and together with the director and the rest of the staff, they carefully checked my vocal tone and every tiny nuance of the performance. It made me realize all over again just how much care and attention is being poured into this work, and that moved me deeply. I know I’m repeating myself, but I’m truly honored and incredibly happy to have been able to take part in such a wonderful production.

Yuki Kaji on voicing Hitsugaya Toushirou in his completed Bankai form:
“I felt I needed to carry as many memories as Hitsugaya himself, so in preparation for the recording, I reread the entire original manga and repeatedly listened to Romi Park’s performance as Hitsugaya as I worked on developing the character.”
The fact that he went back and reread the entire manga and studied Paku Romi's performance specifically because he wanted his portrayal to carry Hitsugaya’s history with it… 🥹
He understood the assignment.
My favorite Fruits Basket Manga Character Connections #1 : Yuki and Ayame
My favorite moments is Fruba was always the character connections. The connection two or more characters have with one another is what I will be talking about with these posts. I want to start off with one of my favorite character moments/connections, that being with Yuki and Ayame.
Now I know what you are thinking, ‘Yuki and Ayame? How can that be a good connection, let alone one of your favs?’ Well it all started with this moment from chapter 47 of the manga:
Ayame put aside his crazy antics for a moment and let Yuki into the way he thinks. It shows a connection that the two have in common with each other. Ayame likes to make clothes, and Yuki likes to work on his garden. Both things they love because it’s something they have control over and can create with their own hands.
Ayame also understands that he contributed in hurting Yuki. The reason Yuki can’t trust people is because the people he was supposed to be able to believe in turned away from him, Ayame included.
This has created a huge gap between the two and Ayame knows this. He is trying desperately to bridge it but he doesn’t know how. This conversation was the step needed for healing. Telling Yuki that their parents were wrong, that he is not a tool is what he needed to do. It was what Yuki needed to hear.
Just those small simple words carried so much weight. It was the first step in bridging the gap between them. Ayame telling Yuki that he is not alone made all the difference.
Bridging the gap was one sided at first, with only Ayame wanting to try, but I think at this moment yuki realized he wanted to know his brother too.
And to me that is a connection worth praising!

The completed hug collection.
Thank you so much for all the love and support!!
Think about what Daisuke’s saying here.
Nothing disturbs his mind. This is Daisuke; nothing ever gets to him, because he never thinks too hard. He charges in and gives it his all no matter what he’s facing, and he never gives up no matter how rough things get.
But after hearing the fear and doubt in Ken’s voice and feeling his hand shaking, Daisuke actually begs Ken to stop. Because if Ken keeps going on like this, it’ll mess him up.
50 foot monsters have no effect on Daisuke.
Ken does.
