When you write about the reboot characters do you ship them with the same characters as the original adventure cast?
That actually depends, because I still think the reboot tried very hard not to include any obvious ship teasing. That being said, I do believe the creators had a few preferences. Some things I did include in my own reboot sequel while adding my own bias. Some differ, but most are consistent:
Taichi: He has absolute MC syndrome in the reboot and I 100% see "shipability" with (at least) 4/7 of the rest of the cast - he himself is incredibly oblivious to it, but I do like to believe that, once they get older, Sora, Mimi, Koushirou and Yamato all have a crush on him at some point.
Yamato: His focus on Taichi is as intense as ever, so this feels very consistent. That aside, he mainly focuses on Takeru again (and his interactions with the others are minor, I tried to see him have more attraction to Sora, Jyou or Koushirou, but his main objective usually revolves around Taichi).
Sora: Her main focus ALSO revolves around Taichi most of the time - and very consistently so. (Minor focus lies on Hikari and, to a lesser degree, Koushirou and Yamato. I'm actually sad that she has only VERY little chemistry with Mimi in this universe.)
Koushirou: Same as the previous two, his main focus lies on Taichi, with very little interaction points to the others (minor instances include Sora, Yamato and Hikari - but only if you squint). I mean, Taishirou is my OTP and this one also focused heavily on their bond, so that is a given.
Mimi: She's the biggest difference in my opinion, because I feel like she totally would form a harem for herself, consisting of Taichi and Jyou (and maybe Hikari, Koushirou and Sora if you squint again). Fun fact: Looking at this Mimi made me appreciate Michi as a ship in the OG a lot more.
Jyou: He once again has most chemistry with Mimi (with minor instances including Taichi, Yamato and maybe Koushirou if you include the fact that he's insanely intimidated by him).
Takeru: I'd say the focus on Hikari on his behalf works very well once again and it makes sense, since Takari are once again the youngest (and if he's not interacting with Yamato, it's Taichi).
Hikari: Again, her main focus lies on Taichi, no mistake (and minor instances may include Sora aaaaaand maybe Mimi, Koushirou and Takeru, but it's not very obvious).
