The OC intros
Tetra (full name Tetra Windsor)
As the name would imply, tetra was born a rich kid, to two parents who were very proud of her up until she opened her eyes. Evan's campaign had a big effect on day to day life in universe, including people wanting to tune in on whom around them were "less than normal" most commonly, a portion of the populace are born as shapeshifters, like being ginger or having green eyes. However, when Evan became the public figure that they did, they wrote books etc, and unintentionally did more good than harm, but they created some prejudices among folks against people like shapeshifters, who were mostly regular folks living their lives. Tetra, born wealthy but a shapeshifter, got the brunt of this prejudice from paparazzi and the media for simply being born. She put up with it for most of her life, but it came to a head about a week after her 18th birthday, and she ditched home permanently to move in with a friend and drop off the radar, which strains her family relationships. She does this, and becomes a gallery artist. The few times she gets to meet evan, there's a real tension between the two as Evan wants to repair the mistakes they made in their past but Tetra is determined to be the chaos hoe she is.
Tetra also loses the fight with her roommate Katrina over who's pride flag gets to hang in pride of place in the dingy apartment.
Evan (Full name Evangeline Muller)
Evan was on track to be a lawyer, and completed their degree in law before veering hard right into monster hunting after losing a chunk of their family to a monster. The majority of people deny monsters existence because they are fortunate enough to not need to acknowledge it. So they started to campaign to prove the existence of monsters, trying to help others. During political campaigning they keep doing odd monster hunting jobs, meeting two friends, a younger kid named Svana and an older bulky dude named Venteseslav, both met on jobs that Evan has done.
It's around this time they are first diagnosed with pneumoconiosis.
Their campaign culminates in an incident with a kaiju-esque monster in Berlin, their hometown, where Evangeline is the one to tackle the monster, but they get a lot of government and military help. Nonetheless the media frames it as a sole hero situation and Evan uses it to finish their campaign and set things tight in their mind. Somewhere along this line they realise they're non binary, which causes them to start binding against their dysphoria. They are a precursor to servitors and pave the way for them to be able to do their work without issue.
Katrina (Full name Katrina Alami)
Katrina just happens to be Tetra's roommate after she bunks it from her parents, as they were schoolmates. Katrina is a well educated young woman who graduated from college as a theater technician and works at a local theater at the time of the story kicking off. Katrina has no previous links to magic and she lived a perfectly normal life, just slipping a little between middle class and lower class at the worst, and she is the team braincell. She's the one who understands where Evan is usually coming from the best, and tries to do damage control when tetra does dumb shit, but isn't afraid to call her out when tetra is being too reckless. She spends most of her time learning to loosen up a bit, because while it isn't bad to be smart and responsible shes incredibly uptight and overwork herself a lot. She's also the only aro/ace character of my three zodiac girls. She ends up being very fun loving and falling in love with fashion, magic and starts to let herself loose after a year or 2 of their 5 year servitude
Luma (Luma O'Donovan)
Luma was a regular child up until about 3 or 4 years old, where her parents took her out on a walk but they looked away from her for a minute and she managed to toddle her way into a fairy circle, and got transported into a fey village. (Fairy circles are rings of mushrooms commonly believed to be entrances to the Irish otherworld) the fey she ended up with dubbed her Luma, from her short blond hair that she had at the time, and she picked up magic from them and was actively taught it alongside their idea of what life was like for humans. (Not the most accurate) So she leaves the hollow at 18, and starts a life in Ireland, and gets along pretty alright for a few years until unfortunately she finds herself with an abuser. After he breaks her nose she finally decides that enough is enough. She skips town and leaves Ireland to beeline for Amsterdam. Gets settled there, has a good time for a while, gets a shitty waitresses job and overall gets things straightened out. But she's not done! Gets settled, life together, a job, a place and that kind of thing, and then a conflict between two goddesses, (Selene and Solaria) that has been popping up around the globe, comes to Amsterdam, which Selene, picks up on Luma for her learned magic, and ropes her in for a "servitor" gig which is basically a superhero gig that shes not so happy about, because as she predicts, it pings her back up on her abusers radar. But she manages to make some good life friends in the process and they quite literally help her fight her demons.
Zinnia (Au)
Zinnia is born as a second generation Vietnamese immigrant in California, to parents who run a bee farm. She grows up learning how to tend bees, relocate lost swarms, harvest honey and honeycomb and just keep the hives functioning. She also learned how to run a honey farm purely organically as her parents prided themselves on being organic. Around the age of 12 her parents gave her her first hive to look after all on her own. One became two, and then 5 and before her parents knew it she had graduated agriculture school with a long term relationship with another girl and taken over the farm.
Things went steady for several months with no major events, and her parents still ran the farm while Zinnia was working towards a degree in agriculture, but the godess of the moon Selene takes notice of Zinnia and Charlie while they're in L.A, while looking for particularly goodhearted people. Not only does she think they're a super cute couple, she also thinks they'll be perfect for her "Servitor" (read: superhero) gig. Bestowing two necklaces to them, they become an ass-kicking power couple who protect the innocent people from their supernatural threats. Zinnia in particular becomes a public favourite, so she uses the alter ego to promote her parent's farm and Charlie can promote her family florists too. It also strengthens their relationship and they become inseperable.
Charlie (Charlotte Cox)
Charlie grew up in Los Angeles in her parent's florist. She ends up in the same college as Zinnia and the two hit it off in their classes together. They're both part of the same extended friend group, and after a lot of humming and having having two start dating each other. About a year after they start dating, The two of them are chosen for the servitor gig. While Zinnia gets the honeybee theme for her parents honey farm Charlie ends up with a very pink and flowery theme, and the two take to servitordom like ducks to water. It strengthens their relationship and by the time their five years are over the two are inseparable and trust each other unbreakably.
Heather (Lady Heather Robyn Alpin)
Heather is a multiple choice backstory kind of woman, and even I can't decide on the truthful one. Some of your options for her backstory are:
(A)Her dad dies just before her 16th and he knows he's a goner, so he leaves her her 16th birthday gift for her, the traditional gift for people in her world- a pair of gloves that will unlock one's magical potential. She celebrates her 16th mourning her pops, and visits his grave to thank him personally, not understanding her power yet. On her way she discovers that she can now see ghosts, and figures she's a medium. HOWEVER, upon arriving at the graveyard she starts to notice things are off. Figuring it's a necromancer "The most evil of all magic users" she whips around to see who's causing the disturbance and.... she's alone. No one else is there. Yet. She ends up being driven out of town as the others come to the same realization, that she's a Necromancer. She is witch hunted out of town and starts a life as a runaway
(B) She manages to keep her necromancy hidden after her sixteenth but falls for a medic that's part of the local guard. He is convicted of a wrongful charge of practicing immoral medicine. He leaves town to start a new life, but as Heather is still coming to terms with her necromancy the secret gets out, forcing her to scarper. She then takes a train east and joins the boy she was in love with in his new wandering job.
(C) In her community a girl has a mental break and kills her sister in an attempt to win Queen of the festival. Heather, a close friend of this girl is overwhelmed by grief and tries to help local enforcement find the culprit. The guard finds her more annoying than helpful though, and in an effort to try and convince them she can help she uses her necromancy to get in touch with the girl in question and have the dead woman tell tales. She is then driven out of town as a result.
It really doesn't matter how or when It happens, the gist is that Heather gets driven out of town, Joins up with an old friend for adventuring and becomes a woman on the run.
Once that happens she starts doing odd jobs with her friends, and gets hired to go after Luma's High Fantasy AU when she runs away from her life as a princess to prove that her father's advisors are corrupt and feeding him lies. On the long, several week return journey the two have a fling before Luma returns to her life as a princess, which is good for Heather because as a necromancer she is one of the most wanted women in the world.
Evenrtually heather gets caught and can't worm her way out of it as usual. She is brought before the now Queen who defies everyone's expetations for brutal execution when she glances at Heather, Greets her like the old friend she is and pardons her. Heather then finally decides to settle down, and from then on gives up her old tough adventuring by finally admitting she's too old for it.
Phoebe (Phoebe Apollo)
Phoebe is on holidays in Greece when she suffers an assault in a temple dedicated to the sun godess Solaria. Devastated, she panickedly prays to Solaria begging for the power to defend herself. Solaria hears her pleas and grants her wish, but unfortunately due to Solarias unique power set, mainly being that of creating monsters, upon casting the spell to give Phoebe the power to protect herself, Solaria's powers go haywire and turns Phoebe into a gorgon, a snake haired woman. Her life steadily falls apart for the next few months, her family not recognising her, her friends turning on her and she starts to do incredibly reckless things to cope, such as setting off illegal fireworks, attempting drug busts but most significantly, crashing parties held by the local aristocrats. Eventually one family gets tired of her shenanigans and hires evangeline to hunt her. Evangeline takes the job but instead of killing phoebe, which she looks Evan in the eyes and tells them to do, Evan's raging hero complex compels them to offer phoebe help on getting back on her feet. Phoebe attempts to back off the building to her presumed death but Evan isn't letting her off that easy and catches her, bringing her back to the guild they work at to help get her life back on track. She ends up coming to terms with her new form and joining up with the Priestesses of Solaria in her locality. She stays single from then on but finds a lot of joy and fulfillment in helping the other preistesses run the small orphanage and interacting with all the kids.
Coral (Coral Mercia)
Coral is washed up at 26. After dying at 23 and making a deal with Solaria, the death godess she returns to life. A few years later, after Coral's life crumbles, Solaria calls on her to make a nuisance for the other servitors, the ones who serve her ex-wife Selene, in return for her second chance.
Coral obliges, with the knowledge that if she doesn't, Solaria will revoke her life privileges and Coral will die for real this time. With no other option, Coral does as she's asked, and becomes essentially the Anti-Servitor. She causes trouble, becomes the villain, and allows Solaria to warp her body to increase her destructive power. Coral in her day to day life, lives with the shame of what she's doing and tries to escape the vicious cycle but cannot without dying in the process. She settles for doing the bare minimum for survival, but if she could sever the deal and help others, she would.
