Yeah, so, I decided I can’t do multimuse blogs and so, I’ve decided to move Shadow to a new full blog and reboot him. 

Clean slate, and all that. Too many things attached to this blog that I’d rather leave behind. 

            Oh. That was a pleasant surprise, but Sonic wasn’t so easily convinced. After the amount of nonsense his Shadow had put him through recently, he was guarded for good reason.

            “Unfortunately. It’s good t’ see at least one o’ you guys has common sense.” The bitter couldn’t possibly be richer. “’M Shadow ain’t exactly th’ most friendly guy on the block, but I mean, I guess I can’t blame him— Y’ are Shadow, yeah?”

He hums in acknowledgment. Arms fold, a signal to Sonic that he doesn’t intend to hurt him. Complicated though they may be by default, Shadow doesn’t favor violence without proper cause. 

Then again, he doesn’t know the circumstances of this hedgehog’s zone. He should not be so quick to judge.

        “Y’ ain’t gonna sock me in th’ jaw too, are ya? I ain’t really got th’ time for that today, dude.”

Ah. Another one of those alternates, he assumes. The disapproving frown, at least, isn’t aimed at Sonic.

He hears him coming, of course, and is able to feel his hand interacting with his striped quills. Red eyes don’t look up from the book in his hands; instead, he’s more inclined to let Sonic continue with whatever it is he’s doing. A floral scent eventually wafting in the air finally clues him in. Ah, he’s decorating him with flowers.

A faint, and subtly strained, smile touches his lips.

He’ll never say it out loud, but he can’t help but remember a blonde-haired and bright-eyed young girl once doing the same so long ago.

He chooses not to speak. His permission is expressed by his silent inaction. Maybe, to him, such delicate and beautiful plants don’t belong on someone as war-torn and battered as him, but Sonic manages to see that differently. Just like he always does. It never ceases to amaze him.

I’ve been in the Sonic fandom for years. Trust me, there’s nothing you can spoil for me. I may not have played all the games, but I know the plots like the back of my hand.

I never really connected with Chip, as a character, so the ending didn’t really hit me tbh. Not nearly as much as SA2′s ending still does. He just--idk, I’m just rly indifferent to him. Maybe a small part of it is my lingering bitterness at how his amnesia was handled so much better than Shadow’s, but that’s on me. Still, it’s definitely one of the better plots a Sonic game’s had, so I’ll give it props there. I can’t stand Pontac’s writing, so I just haven’t enjoyed any of the plots after it. But, I digress.

          It hadn’t quite hit Sonic until they were already kissing, that it had been this long. Two years. It’d been two years since, well…his last attempt at this. Not that the original had been bad, but this time everything was more softer & warmer, and Shadow was the one kissing him. The caress that was delivered to his cheek resulted in his muzzle heating, as did the tips of his ears. Embarrassment washed over him like a tidal wave.

         The second thing he noticed was how soft his lips were. Comfortable, even; he was new to the whole kissing thing, so he struggled at first to find his pace with it. Bumped his nose, whispered a weakly playful apology; but once they met together in that perfect way, it sent his stomach in loops. His fur felt prickled and his heart swelled, and suddenly all the awkwardness felt worth it. Shy or not, he definitely wanted to keep doing this.

         “…You’re better at this than I am, eh?” He chuckled, albeit bashfully. 

Shadow’s always been a quick learner. He wouldn’t be surprised if the Professor had specifically designed his brain to be highly receptive to new information. He had to be, after all. They would’ve had no time for an experiment that struggled. His time with Scourge, while brief and stressful, had left this much of an imprint on him. With kissing, yes, he knew what to do. 

His forehead rests gently against his after they part, his smile returning. Despite his more comfortable disposition, a faint hint of red is splashed along his own muzzle. Kissing him is nothing like how it’d been to kiss Scourge. There’s no sense of stress or obligation to follow a pace that’s, ironically, too fast for him. They’re on the same page. The same wavelength. He’s happy, the way he knows he’s supposed to be.

It feels better than he can ever describe.

          Boy, he really was cute! Sporting the gentlest of grins, Sonic hopped over to his boyfriend (still getting used to that—)  and laced his arm around him. Nuzzles were delivered all over Shadow’s muzzle, and something close to a giggle escaped him. 

          “Hey, where’s my kiss? It’s New Year’s, y’know!”

The hug and vigorous nuzzling both manage to pull Shadow out of his awkward state and into something a little more comfortable. He smiles in a way only Sonic can manage, a quiet sound of amusement of his own being made.

It’s still an adjustment, but not one that he minds all too much.

His arms had automatically wrapped back around him, but one hand lifts to gently brush a peach cheek. New Years. He remembers that holiday. It puts into perspective how far they’ve come together. His nose lightly brushes his. “It’s right here...” he murmurs.

“Y’ should blush more often! It’s cute, heheh.”

It’s clear that the poor hedgehog’s really been caught off-guard. He isn’t sure how to respond.
