no, nes has not met any of his relatives for they were all killed by the mafia after a deal didnāt go well with his father and the mafioso that ordered the hit. EP was the only survivor from the hit
time for more of EPs backstory!!:
when his whole family got offed by the mob (adding in that at this point he was 7 years old), he ran off into the next town over where he tried to find sanctuary in the nearest church but they closed him out bc they were aware of the activities that mafia were conducting in the area and were paid to report any remaining family members that survived (so basically only him).
but one nun was able to give him mercy and take him in in secret. while everyone was commanded to report of any remaining members, she was the only one to give him mercy. he was semi-raised by her until he got drafted into the war.
the nun was terrified of if they were still looking for him so she would instruct him to stay hidden and lay low (she was young when she took him in as well (imagine a 19 year old taking care of a 7 year old thatās literally being hunted down by the mob) so she also doesnāt know what to do in a situation like this) which made him feel isolated in his own home country. like wowā¦.
i also want to add that i donāt want to make EPs whole backstory like āletās make it as traumatic as possible bc i love pain!!!ā but more so within reason and why he even got his foot into the door of criminal activities to then it expanding to his own organization.
and not to make it a whole sympathy party for him bc at the end of the day he does kill, manipulate, intimidate, and steal for the things that he wants and will do it for more power (U__U)
i do draw EP with an eye and lip scar but thereās an actual reason why i did that and itās bc with his concept art he looks like heās severely sleep deprived and not even sober when he cut his own hand off. so i used that to make his backstory to how he lost his hand and got his face scars

this happened after his time in the military. during the military he had to mercy kill one of his colleagues bc he was told that there wasnāt any more medical supplies for everyone. and after doing so he was discovered and everyone got upset and went off on him and he tried everything to defend himself (but how can he when the only other person that can back him up was already dead) and thatās when a certain someone said āyou have to be a special kind of evil to do that to your ownā (CALLBACKKK)
after his time there, he find himself homeless in italy but reconnects with gustavo (i have them as friends that met in the military in this story) to find the mob boss that killed his family and get revenge. he gets it but still feels like he didnāt accomplish anything. he doesnāt feel like any justice was served, the word āevilā still lingered around. āwas this the right move? is this still evil even with the things this man did to me and my family?ā. he canāt think for long since heās standing in a murder scene. so he takes this as a sign to finally flee italy and go to america.
his time in america wasnāt much better, he attempts to open a restaurant but as debts get too much to handle, his depression brings him lower and lower, the medications he gets put on donāt help much so he tries to take more and more in a desperate attempt to get these emotions and thoughts out of his head. it gets to the point where he becomes addicted, it was the only way to get the noise out of his head. the depression and the PTSD get too out of control that he loses sleep and gets more and more pills.
he tries to do prep work for the next day done and he has another memory flash of that days and he because heās on so many pills (one specifically is painkillers for all the headaches heās been having) and he doesnāt even realize heās so deep within the memory he cuts his hand off but doesnāt react bc of how numb he was
as for the face scars, bc of his constant hallucinations/flashbacks heās getting and the amount of pills he keeps taking to where heās nowhere NEAR sober, he thinks that basically removing his vision was the way to go, but he of course was still hesitating so all he could stomach was to just slice his eyelid, he takes a pause, then slices down his lip before he realizes what he did and passed out on to the floor.
iād also consider this the day he actually embraced the fact that he was evil. after being called that since he was like, 6 and then constantly during his teens and then in the military while this whole time he did nothing but try and seek and share mercy.
he now had that embedded thought of āwhy should i even try and show mercy to the people that see me as nothing but evilā
TL;DR: EPs face scars are all self inflicted and not just there bc it looks cool

thank you for the question! kinda gruesome but iāll accept it LOL
for those who donāt know the lore, the story goes nes actually doesnāt know heās in the mafia or that heās a mafia boss. he keeps it a secret from her for her general safety and well being, keeping those two worlds apart and doing everything in his power to not let them collide. heās already lost his entire family from the mafia when he was a child.
so nes, the last person he has left that he cares a lot about, getting hurt or let alone DIE in a circumstance that involved his line of work (like from his rivals) i think would turn him into something that he didnāt think he would become. a different kind of rage would erupt. a blind rage that was driven from grief and despair. and once the rage simmers down, heās only left with himself.
like the last time, hes only left to blame himself.
side note iāve actually havenāt thought of a way to write pizzahead into the story, iām sure iāll find a way but i think him being a rival gang/mob group might be the move.
