Like, I remember that Danny in the original cartoon had struggles, but who first decided that Danny ought to be traumatized because his own parents vivisected him on a lab table? That he's constantly looking over his shoulder because he's on the run from the GIW? That the Anti-Ecto Acts constitute genocide because it authorizes the U.S government to kill all ghosts on sight?

I haven't watched "Danny Phantom" in a while, so correct me if I'm wrong, but these all seem like disporportionally heavy topics for what the original cartoon is. Are people just taking details already present in the show and extrapolating them out to their maximum angst? Is it to try to get "Danny Phantom" to fit in with the DC universe? Or is there some other explaination for it?

But HOLEY MOLEY!!!  205 likes and counting!  I am absolutely floored by the positive reception this post is getting!  I was honestly only expecting only a handful of likes and MAYBE a couple of replies.  That's it.

In DP canon, Danny's parents threatened to dissect Phantom at least once, and tried to shoot him or catch him with some frequency. The GIW, while framed as largely incompetent, did in fact chase Danny across the US trying to catch him for 'lots and lots of painful experiments' during one episode where his identity was temporarily revealed. These elements were in the original cartoon, but generally played for laughs.

There are other reasons, too.

In the phandom dissection fics have been a genre for... a long time. I'm not sure how long (one of the big ones was Lab Rat by Anneriawings). All the way back to the days of fanfiction.net supremacy. So, there's a lot of history there.

Then, for crossovers, people often try to move characters from one setting to the other setting, and bad reveals and the GIW are good ways to do that. An alternate end from The Ultimate Enemy has also been popular in the past.

Like tell me what Grazers, Scrappers, Thunderjaw's etc, functions are. Like, we saw that Stormsbirds clean the air and Snapmaw's clean the water.

Give me a full detailed book with explanation about all these creatures!
