Anime Central day two is complete, and below is my progress on the Look Back chalk mural. I love how this is turning out, especially the details like the sketching on their manga page, the wood grain, and the back lighting on the hair. #lookback #anime #kiyotakaoshiyama #tatsukifujimoto
A fun Jack-O-Lantern character in honor of being Halfway to Halloween. Enjoy.

Phantom of the Paradise is now complete.
Further progress on my Phantom of the Paradise drawing, maybe I’ll finish this tomorrow night.
Bonus question, what’s your favorite song on the soundtrack?
A detail of a fun drawing I started tonight simply because I love the movie. Any fans out there?
Completed coloring on my newest cartoon, some old characters that I am putting into a new story. Something I have been thinking about for a while now and I am looking forward to it.

Today would have been the big Saturday of Anime Central 2020, and even though the show is cancelled this year, they are having an Anime Central 2020 Online: A Virtual Gathering which is awesome.
In honor of the show and the gathering, I am sharing today's Chalk Art Throw-Back Time Lapse from ACen 2018, and the time when a "Pirate Theme" artwork may have been one of my most complex murals to date. The incredible original artwork was by Julia Lichty. See more of her work at www.ghostfire.net
There was a massive amount of detail to get right on this, from every piece of clothing, to large scale perspective and lighting that had to be just right, to wood grain... so so so much wood grain. It was a challenge to be sure, and I am absolutely ecstatic about how it turned out.
So happy Anime Central Weekend, happy Saturday to all you Virtual Con Attendees, be safe and kind to each other, and enjoy this chalk art memory! Looking forward to seeing you all in person soon.
Hoping you are all having a terrific Thursday, here is today's Chalk Art Time-Lapse Throw-Back.
Jumping ahead to 2017, and my 4th appearance at the Sweet Chalk Festival in Lockport, NY, where I continued my DC Comics art streak with a recreation of Wonder Woman by Jim Lee.
I knew from the moment I saw this art that it would look great as a giant mural. From the glowing and epic star field background to the reflections and details Wonder Woman's armored outfit, the entire piece emanated power and strength. I buckled down for 15 hours and completed this 9' x 12' art over two days. FUN FACT: It actually rained after I completed the piece, but BEFORE I was able to get my final photo. Fortunately we had just enough time to throw a tarp over the art. If you look at the final shot in the video of me lying next to the mural, you can actually see the wet/dry line on the ground where the tarp saved the chalk art.
Enjoy, and please share, it helps a lot to get my work in front of more people. Thank you!
And a Wonderful Wednesday to you all! Today's Chalk Art Time-Lapse Throw-Back is from 2017.
This was one of my 3D chalk art murals, and was made for Crayola at the headquarters of Toys''R''Us. I created the piece during 15 hours over two days, with most of the work on the first day as it had to be ready by Lunch Time on the 2nd. This is also one of the few times I put down a Tempera Paint base as the concrete surface wouldn't hold the chalk well otherwise. I successfully dodged rainstorms in the area to complete this fun image of Geoffrey with the Crayola Crayons.
Enjoy the time lapse, and please share if you are able, it helps my art get out to more people! thanks.
Welcome, I hope you are having a wonderful Tuesday! Today's Chalk Art Time-Lapse Throw-Back is from my 3rd appearance at the Sweet Chalk Fest Lockport NY in 2016.
By this time, I realized I had made a trend of recreating DC Comics art and characters at the Sweet Chalk Fest, with my first year being a 3-D Batman/Batcave, and my 2nd year being Batman v. Superman. To change it up at least a little, I decided to go with the VILLAINS this time, and who better to draw than the Clown Prince of Crime himself and his main squeeze. The Joker and Harley Quinn are both iconic characters, and I loved this expressive, cartoonist take I found by artist original Mauricio Herrera.
So I went to work, sat in the sun for two day, and created this 9' x 12' chalk mural that was truly enjoyable from start to finish. Enjoy the time lapse, and PLEASE share if you can. Thank you!
Happy Monday! As this upcoming weekend WOULD have been Anime Central 2020, let's have some happy memories from the time I made a JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure chalk art for @vizmediaofficial back in 2017.
This was fun piece. The original artwork I was working from was incredibly cool, the line work was excellent and I loved the color scheme. It was challenging to recreate this in chalk, but I am super happy with the result. What really surprised me was the fan response, JoJo has quite the following, and I was made well aware of that all weekend long.
Thank you Viz Media, and thank you Anime Central for the great memories. I am looking forward to being together with all of you again, we'll make something awesome, and maybe just a bit.... bizarre.

Happy Friday everyone. Today's Chalk Art Time-Lapse Throw-Back takes us to the summer of 2016 and @otakon once more.
This was a bitter sweet event, as it was the last Otakon to be held at the Baltimore Convention Center before their move to Washington, DC. Even the event art I was recreating reflected this as it showed their mascot characters sailing away out of Baltimore Harbor.
This was my second recreation of a @comfortandadam artwork that year, the first being at Anime Central that I shared yesterday. As always, they created an amazing piece and I tried my best to do it justice.
Enjoy today's time lapse, please share if you can, and let me know what you think in the comments below.
Happy Thursday! Today's Chalk Art Time-Lapse Throw-Back once again takes us to Anime Central and the year 2016.
For this mural, I was asked to recreated the Program Cover artwork, a stunning original piece by @comfortandadam. If you haven't followed their work, they are prolific artists who I have seen working on the convention scene ever since I started my chalk appearance, and they have countless amazing prints, comics, and commission work, so do check them out.
The mural was 9 feet wide by 13 feet tall, and took 28 hours to complete from start to finish. I loved the coloring on the original, and did my best to duplicate all of the details as close as possible, right down to the rips and wrinkles in the art to make it appear vintage. Look closely and let me know what you see.
Thanks, and please share the art if you can, it helps get my work out to more people.
