I feel like Eyeless Jack in my head isn’t entirely animalistic.

Do people still go under the assumption Ticci Toby has Schizophrenia? Because I don’t, but idk the fandom interpretation anymore after years of not really being in it fully. I know his creator was apparently really ableist with the way they(he?) portrayed him, and I can see that in the way they just pushed together a bunch of disorders onto Toby with no real idea of how they actually work it seems.

Also adding onto this that i’ve seen people headcanon Tim with having schizophrenia, which isn’t a bad thing and you can hc whatever you want it doesn’t matter, but make sure you do it right. I think a lot of people hc it because it’s in his files that Jay shows in Marble Hornets, but i’d like to remind people that he didn’t actually have schizophrenia, he had the ‘Slender sickness’ or whatever you wanna call it and they diagnosed him with it bc they thought he was seeing things and hallucinating, but he wasn’t. What he was seeing, the Operator, was actually real and there. They only diagnosed him with schizophrenia bc that’s the closest thing they could come up with not bc he actually has it. All that to say, headcanoning it isn’t a bad thing and it can be done well, but you have to understand schizophrenia for that. A lot of people fall into the trap of thinking schizophrenia is only hallucinations and hearing and seeing things, but it actually affects literally your whole brain. Memory, IQ, feelings, thought processes, speed of processing information, and a lot more are all also effects of schizophrenia, not even mentioning Negative symptoms and other Positive symptoms. Ofc all of these vary from person to person, but if you’re gonna make a character have a disorder, please research it and don’t be accidentally ableist!!
