davesport is just as “”problematic”” as jack x phones…. dave literally killed his entire family and continuously idolized the man that made him do it

I've seen some talk about Jack x Phonies and Davesport and I wanted to give my two cents as well. So I'm using this comment to do that.

This post is completely right!! Like yeah Jack x Phonies is problematic. No shit. But you know what else is?? Davesport!!!! And this is coming from and avid Davesport shipper.

If you have anything against the people (not the ship, the people) shipping Jack x Phonies then I better not catch you shipping Davesport either. It's okay to not like a ship of course, but some people think they're somehow more righteous just cause they don't ship one problematic ship. But then go on to ship another (just as) problematic ship. Like come on guys.

Jack x Phonies is toxic. Jack is literally their boss and, although I haven't played through all the DSaF 3 routes yet, from what I've seen he isn't always the nicest to them either. (Not mentioning Jack literally bought Harry off the black market)

Davesport is toxic. Both of them have so many problems that theoretically if they were together they'd just make each other worse. Jack is very emotionally distant and closed off. Dave is extremely clingy, emotional and obssessive. Not to mention (as the comment kinda mentions) Dave literally played a part in the death of Dee, as well as idolizing the man that killed Jack's remaining family along with him.

With the rise of tiktok and stuff people have become so scared to ship toxic ships. And for some reason if you do you're seen as a bad person. But then this all has such a double standard because half the people spewing this shit ship just as toxic stuff. The difference is that they'll do so much to defend themselves.

Enjoying toxic relationships in fiction doesn't make you a bad person yall. Like calm down and leave people alone. If you don't like what you're seeing just block the tag and move on.

Ship Davesport. Ship Jack x Phonies. They're all adults. Who gives a shit. Just enjoy your stay on the internet and let other people do so too.

Some of this got a bit outside of just DSaF but with seeing all these anonymous postings about it, as well as other people talking about similar stuff, this has just been on my mind quite a bit. I swear it all got worse when the word "proship" became mainstream. (and in case someone thinks something cause of that last comment - no I do not in fact support actual proships)

y’all ever notice that the ways that Dave shows love (or doesn’t show love) are similar to things that Henry did to him? There’s the obvious stuff like giving Jack eternal life through springlocking, taking Jack to Vegas, the destination Henrys circus never reached, killing kids as a bonding activity, sharing the keys to the box, etc etc. but there’s also other things I’ve noticed that connect back to Henry. Henry recorded him and watched him constantly, so Dave puts cameras in Jacks house and has constant access to him via the vents. Henry likely never initiated much physical contact with Dave that wasn’t experimental or surgical, so Dave almost never initiates physical contact with Jack. Henry was dismissive of Dave’s thoughts and feelings, so Dave is dismissive of jack’s thoughts and feelings. It’s the only way he has ever experienced ‘love’, and it’s the only way he knows how to express love.

one thing I really like about Davesport is that Dave and Jack both have an equal ability to be the toxic and abusive one in the relationship, and who it is changes depending on your choices. Dave is violent, unpredictable, manipulative, obsessive, invasive, insecure, and good at hiding evidence. But Dave is also incredibly vulnerable, and those toxic qualities can be easily turned against him. Jack is intelligent, and knows how to get into peoples heads. Jack has very low empathy, and can make choices without a lot of emotion behind it (whether it’s because he’s soulless or it’s just jacks personality is up for debate, I think it’s a mix of both personally.) it can lead him to be more forgiving to mistakes (like how he forgives Dave much faster than anyone else, for better or for worse), but it also makes it much easier for him to manipulate people. He fakes such genuine kindness to Dee and Dave, both in reality and in the flipside, and still easily flips on a dime and uses their greatness weaknesses against them.

I’m very sorry it’s unfinished I just don’t have the energy to work on it anymore. There’s like… hundreds of things wrong with this comic that I CAN list off- but I won’t in hopes that you won’t notice them! WOO!!

Something fun with the pages is that you can see the drafting process for the dialogue. I think that’s fun.
