Brown gingham. Gut oder schlecht?
I think it’s ok, again when styled in an interesting way. Brown tends to err on the muted side of the color palette, and can end up being a bit sleepy if combined with similar shades.
This guy’s doing it about as well as possible, but I’d rather see the pattern matched with something like a navy blazer and textured navy tie, for example.
So I am starting a new job where I need to dress professional and classy, and was hoping for some fresh ideas. My outfit should be three pieces: shirt, shoes and pants. I can wear a jacket or cardigan and I prefer ties. Any ideas would be much appreciated, please.

I'm graduating from high school in a month and want to know any ideas of how to dress appropriately. I love this blog and everything about it. I just want some ideas of how to dress for graduation. It's really appreciated. (:
Congrats! It depends on what you already have in your wardrobe. I like these examples:
This series features Alex in his new BLVDier suit and shirt.
We opted for a labrador colored linen and silk fabric for the suit. The blend causes the hand of the suit to have a cool and almost wet feel but also texturizes the look with a slubby grain.
Since Alex boxes frequently, we capped the soft shoulder on his delts knowing the fabric will give as linen based textiles normally do. This also reduces the dimples stronger men typically see on the backside of the shoulder with a wider point to point on a suit. Additionally, we decreased the ½ waist and increased the front waist, allowing for an always-fitted look from behind but properly draped look from the front.
Most notably, we raised the rise of the pant substantially. Alex is more torso than leg and the higher rise, single pleated, tapered pant balances out his silhouette.
Lastly, the wider spread on the shirt collar disappears nicely under the lapels of the jacket and the fitted hem of the shirt disappears nicely under the higher rise of the pant. Two very important, aesthetically pleasing, attributes to this outfit.

Working with Zach to make my first custom suit was so rad. Came out even better than I imagined.
The fabric we ended up going with is lightweight but sturdy and has a beautiful texture upon closer inspection.
(note: I say “we” because during the process my instincts led me somewhat astray and Zach helped reign in my tendency to go overboard)
In the past I wore an off the rack 38R. I would buy it knowing that the sleeves would be far too short on my right sleeve. The rise of the pants would be too low, accentuating my short legs and long torso. The crotch and seat would be too tight which would make me less likely to wear it often.
Zach addressed all these points of imperfection during the consultation. It is hard to overstate the difference in wearing a suit made specifically for you. Although repeated often, I felt that I was wearing the suit, not the other way around.
Now the only problem is I want one for every day of the week…
