I had to wait a really long time to read chalice of the gods bc all I heard was negativity and it soured it so I needed time before I could read it myself and OHMYGOD why did that book hit me with the most amount of angst possible!? Yall I'm literally tearing up at so many parts.
Grover worrying percy and Annabeth are gonna forget him when they graduate and move to new Rome. And telling percy he's afraid of being left behind
Percy feeling conflicted and not knowing what to do with his life bc demigods are supoosed to die before they're 18
The subtext of kids with mental health issues and neurodivergent kids not knowing what to do or how to function when they turn 18 bc they thought they wouldn't make it or no longer have the support they were given their whole life
Percy winning a battle with geras by imagining life with Annabeth and Grover and growing old together and having a happy peaceful life

Hmmm interesting. I would very much enjoy a book with new characters. I think if this series really wants to continue that's exactly what it needs.
I'm gonna go yap my thoughts under the cut, but I think this has potential to be a fun idea even if the timeline seems a bit wonky. and I might be brain worming on the tcotd trio we were introduced to
Okay so first of all Clarisse. I absolutely love that we're getting more of her, that's my girl. I'm assuming S2 helped a lot with that. (I do hope that we remember in this book that she's plus size tho bc as much as I enjoy the show, removing her body type was very upsetting.)
I think the timeline might be a bit wonky bc she's graduated after BOO. I can see three possible outcomes. Either she's retconned to be younger, this takes place during the summer of HOO, or she's returning as an elder demigod.
I would LOVE to see older demigods return to show younger demigods that they exist. Bc remember in BOTL how shocked percy was that one existed bc he didn't think it was possible? (Granted Daedalus is a special case, but still) They need that hope. And it doesn't need to be a full summer or forever, even couple days or week would be fun to see. Have them be mentioned and off to the side, maybe they give some advice and let the new mcs go off on their quests
I'm also hoping for this bc I think a book that takes place during HOO summer would be too much. We already have gaia and the war between the camps, adding more to all that chaos wouldn't feel right.
Shoutout our third canonical Katie and laughing bc my ares kid oc is also named Katie. But I love ares kid rep and I'm very happy to get more.
Now about those tcotd brain worms...
We were introduced to Oludare, Noah, and Ananya. And those characters behind Katie look pretty close to their descriptions. They made sure to point out their names, parents, and appearance. And in March we got thar article about Hestia which specifically named Oludare. And the wording was very interesting.
It just seems very foreshadowy to drop this.
Also I've said plenty on a Hestia child. I stand by it's a cool idea and I would love to see more on it. But I am still begging for her children to be born of a platonic relationship or be champions. And I do desperately need Rick to stop depicting his virgin goddesses as children, but I've yelled about that enough.
All of these thoughts could be proven wrong and maybe we get three more new demigods but one can dream and think it'd be cool to include the new characters we got. And I will definitely read this book and yap about it when I do
