OH MY GOD this would make SO MUCH sense.
Velvettes youth and rejection of all things old and outdated definitely would (AND SHOULD) reaffirm Vox’s affinity for upgrades and improvements to both himself and his technology.
I feel like the potential of Vox and Velvettes relationship is sooooo under analyzed. Not sure why though because theres so much to dig into here!!
For example, heres something I was brainstorming abt:
When I first watched season 1 and observed how Velvette acted during the overlord meeting, being overly disrespectful and insulting their respective ages; I 100% expected her to have some similar thoughts about Vox considering he’s not only from the 50s but a stuck up white guy from the 50s.
However, It was clear to me from season 2 that Vox and Valentino, are the only two people in hell Velvette actually respects.
I mean come on, even when she thinks Vox is being an asshole in episode 7 she follows his instructions anyway.
From what we’ve seen of Velvette, she isn’t keen on giving her respect out to just anybody. I mean, come on, her song is LITERALLY called “Respectless.”
Which is why shes so insulted when Vox doesn’t show her the same level of respect and trust back.
Shes visibly surprised that not only did he force her to apologize to Carmilla, but also brought up things like how new she is to being an overlord and her lack of experience.
Especially when in season one she went out of her way to ask if he was doubting her abilities.
All this being said, it would make ALOT of sense if Vox saw himself in Velvette. Her eagerness to prove herself is evident, even when that insecurity is hidden behind her massive ego and multitude of talents. (Dont even get me started on how shes somehow an influencer, potion maker, fashion designer, AND event organizer all at once.)
In a way, Vox and Velvette motivate each other to keep going.
Vox serves as a constant reminder to Velvette that if she doesnt consistently prove herself to be worthy she’ll be disrespected and disregarded by those who have a higher social standing than her.
Velvette serves as a constant reminder of the ever evolving world Vox feels he needs to keep up with in order to maintain public relevance and, by extension, his own self worth.
Also, the pin-up love potion posters in Vox’s office plus THIS CUTE ASS 1950S INSPIRED DRESS VELVETTE WEARS DURING BAD WITH US.
It would make plenty sense for Vox to find both Velvette’s ambition and 10/10 face and body attractive.
