Pony Poison

Finished watching the episode. It didn't win me over. I really didn't need to hear twilight sparkle go to bat for segregation. What on earth were they thinking? And all the plotlines got wrapped up in just about the most boring way possible. Flawless and Fractured fighting? Oops turns out fractured was just a sad misunderstood girl who took no pleasure in being evil and only did it because people expected her to. What people? Nobody ever talks to fractured in the entire show except for flawless, and flawless doesn't assume she's evil, fractured is the one who asserts it. Starlight violating Mari's boundaries after finding out that being a werewolf is healing her face? Doesn't matter, Mari forgives her with zero concessions and trixie cures her lycanthropy so it won't ever come up again. Belle and Skywishes having a chance to reconcile? Skywishes gets tricked into killing herself by fractured and belle doesn't really give a shit because they don't recognize each other. This one beats bathhouse by a country mile. "MONSTER SCHOOL!!" is now my officially recognized worst tamers MLP episode. It's more racist, worse written, torpedoes all its potential, wrecks other preexisting storylines, and doesn't offer anything in return. The jokes are terrible, the plot stinks, and it somehow has the gall to be 53 minutes long. Complete trashfire. I genuinely can't imagine how this is the same person who wrote episodes like "Trixie visits Twilight's Family and Immediately Regrets it". It's like night and day.

We didn't even finish watching the live broadcast of today's episode. My fears were more or less right on the money. These episodes are not able to make any statement about race without devolving into jokes that aren't even edgy, they're just sad. There's no shock value, people have been saying this shit for 500 years. I don't know what happened, because not even the old Sonic Underground episodes were this racist. There's the barest attempt at making the events actually matter to the characters in a way that might elevate it above racism = funny, but it gets immediately buried in more cheap slurs. Maybe watching the last ~20 minutes would change my mind, but somehow I doubt it. I don't really have any faith in the mare episodes anymore. Probably gonna put my Starlight/Mari PMV on hold for a while. This shit sucks. STOP BEING FUCKING RACIST

I'm always conflicted when I see a hint that 13420 is gonna be in an episode because she's one of my favorite characters with tons of story potential and a lot of personality and an adorable design, but I hate the cavalcade of nauseating race jokes that follow her wherever she goes. I just want to see her be happy, why does everything she (and her mom) does have to be racially stereotyped

We need a Starlight and Mari episode that takes place outside of a giant, infinite black hole. I want forty solid minutes of them being a sincere danger to everyone in the vicinity, including each other. The werewolf episode was good but I hunger for more.
