Watching Kendrick Lamar create and record his verses on the Bad Blood remix was one of the most inspiring experiences of my life. I still look back on this collaboration with so much pride and gratitude, for the ways Kendrick elevated the song and the way he treats everyone around him. Every time the crowds on The Eras Tour would chant his line โyou forgive, you forget, but you never let itโฆ go!โ, I smiled. The reality that Kendrick would go back in and re-record Bad Blood so that I could reclaim and own this work Iโm so proud of is surreal and bewildering to me. these vault songs always make me wonder about the discussions taylor and her team would have when shaping the albums and her reputation, so to speak. like she didnt even want to name this album speak now originally. 2 of the vault songs r #spicy, as were the og sparks fly lyrics and they all got the boot. sheโs a lot more honest abt the way fame burdened her in the vault tracks too. and the prologue suggests there was a lot left unsaid out of fear in 2010. and i cant help but wonder how much she pushed to control how she was being perceived herself and how much she was, for a lack of a better word, forced to. like how much of her fear was rooted in just like normal thoughts of a 19 year old in the public vs how much of that fear was whispered to her by her own team to get her to make the album they wanted, ya know?
