Holding hands is scary even if you've literally been inside of the other guy

I’m still taking a break from drawing for mental health reasons, so it was a delight to check my inbox and see @hattedhedgehog had finished my Boffins commission! Thank you so much!

“What were you thinking?” Thorin rounded on the hobbit. “How could you be so reckless?” If Thorin thought for even a second he might get the same dejected response as he did once on the mountainside so long ago, he was sorely mistaken. Bilbo was not the same hobbit that started that quest with him, and he realized he was about to be quickly reminded of that. “You-!” Bilbo didn’t get to finish before a hand slapped down over his mouth. Bilbo looked up at Dwalin, his eyes blazing as the muffled protests increased in frequency and volume. “Not in front of others, lad.” Dwalin reminded him softly. Bilbo’s eyes darted to the soldiers of Erebor still standing behind him, to Marlok’s men scurrying about on the deck, and finally landing on Marlok himself. Bilbo took a deep breath in before releasing it with a flutter of his eyes and a single nod. Dwalin removed his hand, and Bilbo gave him one hard look before his nose went primly up in the air. “Very well. I’m headed to my rooms so my wetness is no longer offensive. Good day to you all.” He sniffed before marching away.

Christine is OBVIOUSLY Bilbo, he never had much interest for proper singing but ever since his mother died he had gotten a job in the Opera House as a chorus person. She often spoke of the Angel of Music to him, and sang to him before her passing. (Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again is about Belladonna btw).

The Phantom has gotta be Thorin, specifically obsessive/possessive Gold Sick Thorin. His birth deformity is just that he looks really elvish (aka greatly deformed in the eyes of dwarves). Instead of an organ he has a harp which soothes whoever is listening into a deep sense of calm. It's what draws Bilbo to him.

Raoul is Bofur, a presence from Bilbo's youth that wants nothing more than to reconnect. He is kindly and patient with Bilbo and the Phantom, who he believes to be a figment of Bilbo's imagination.

There is something very funny about how they all knew they would be setting out of a suicidal, several month long journey across rugged lands and wilderness and they still brought their instruments, multiple of which were so large they had to be left by the front door.

That being said, in The Hobbit fandom, Bofur is absolutely my bicycle and someone that I do ship with a lot of different characters.

ONE thing though that I will always hold to is that he is NOT simply fodder for a jealousy plot, and deserves happiness, regardless of who I pair him with.
