My surgery went well btw. I might get to go home today if things go well. I do have a fair bit of pain at the incision site and some trouble going to the bathroom, so I may be staying a bit longer. We'll see. Sometimes the best place for you is the hospital. They do take pretty good care of me here. No complaints.
No pain down my leg right now!!! I expect to still have some while the nerve heals but it's wild having none right now after having such extreme pain every day since January.
The Native Birds litter - Arthur x Tali. Born June 18th 2026.
Top to bottom: Robin, Finch, Wren, Jay, Martin
They didn't cancel my surgery this time!
It went well. I'm settling into my ward for the night. Much easier so far than my last surgery.
Surgery prep is going well so far. No cancellation yet! Lol I'm literally in the hallway outside the operating room so I think it's happening this time.

The breeder of Arthur's puppies has a puppycam (private) livestream so I know what I'll be watching while I'm in the hospital.
Arthur's babies were so delightful. Ahhhh they were so cute and so soft. Very friendly and engaged! They were climbing all over my husband and I as soon as we sat down in their pen. Which is exactly what you'd expect from Cocker puppies. They're so perfect.
I'm also very pleased that no one has loose eyelids and only one of them has white haws. If I could change anything about Arthur, it would be to give him dark haws and tighten up his eyelids. His eyelids are only a bit loose, but his light haws make it look worse than it is. Dark haws are more aesthetically pleasing. They're not faulted, but dark is preferred.
The puppies are doing well with crate training. They are using the litter tray. They're very good, smart little things.
I want one so bad. There's still availability. Ughhh why does it have to be such terrible timing?

Unfortunately most of the puppy pictures I took look like this. Because 7 week old puppies are chaotic.

Going to see Arthur's puppies tomorrow! It's gonna be a lot of driving. And I'm in a lot of pain. And it's literally the day before my surgery. But we're doing it. I wanna see those babies before they go home.

Swim-swamming with my boy. Our last swim for a bit since my surgery is on Tuesday.
Haley is hopefully getting her surgery on the 11th. As long as she's feeling okay of the stomach, because if she's having a bout of diarrhea again we'll have to put it off. The anesthesia would only make it worse. Her vet isn't so worried about the surgery itself, she's more worried about the recovery. She wanted her booked early in the week so we had lots of business hours after the surgery in case she has issues. Because chronically ill 14 year old dog.
The infected lump on her neck is the first priority. Then the tooth. Then the lump on her bum. If she starts having trouble at any point during the surgery, the team will finish what they're doing and wake her up. It's possible they won't get everything done. But hopefully they will.
It's just about making her comfortable. Apparently when they did the pre-surgery x-rays and bloodwork, every time they looked at something that was kind of yikes her vet was basically chanting "it's palliative care, it's palliative care." Can't worry about everything. She's not a healthy dog. She's 14 and has been a lemon since she was 7.
