What jobs are there for someone who has no skills and has a useless BA, and can't do manual labour but all their job experience is manual labour? It's all animal care/handling or food prep experience, none of which I am physically capable of doing anymore.
Some sort of call centre job that will make me want to shoot myself I guess?
Finding out today the final puppy count!!
Tali could have them later this week or next week. Technically her due date is Saturday.
When I am working with my dog and he is struggling and all my attention is on him the last thing I want is coaching from some random person who I have never spoken to and has never met my dog. If I wanted suggestions I would have talked to the trainer I pay and knows me and the dog very well, who was present. I certainly don't need to be told "just put a cookie in front of his nose to get his attention." Wtf kind of outdated shit is that.
Just because I'm at a fun match doesn't mean I'm looking for unasked for suggestions. Just here to work with my dog.
I was so flustered today when this happened but I really really wish I had confronted the person. Don't care that you're running the match, don't care that you might be a trainer or high level competitor ... I literally didn't ask. You actually can just keep your bad advice to yourself.
This is a big issue in dog sports actually. People often feel, I dunno, qualified or entitled to give others their advice. Despite that person not asking or looking for it. Look, sometimes advice is wanted and appreciated! Usually when asked for. But dog sports really bring out big opinions and big personalities and sometimes it feels like everyone has gotta get their two cents in.
Every time Arthur is participating in Naughty Boy Behaviour now I just tell him that his kids would be embarrassed by him. Arthur, you don't want to embarrass your kids, do you? You want to be a cool dad, don't you? Well cool dads are Good Boys.

Health update stuff
I've been having a lot of breakthrough nerve pain in the back of my thigh recently. Which isn't ideal. So I talked to my nurse practitioner and got the go-ahead to increase my lyrica dose a little. Going up to 175 twice a day. Hopefully that will take care of it. We also discussed surgery versus medication forever. She is of the opinion that surgery is probably still necessary, because of the likelihood of permanent nerve damage without it. Ultimately I need to follow up with the surgeon about it. I keep flip-flopping on my opinion ... I'm back in the pro-surgery camp.
We also talked about my worries regarding my family history of diabetes. I mean ... My mom, dad, brother, and sister are all either diabetic or pre-diabetic now. So that's a lot. I had bloodwork done a few years ago and it was very normal. I'm going to get it done again in the next week or so. If it's normal, we'll recheck every 2 years or if there's symptoms.
Weight loss is going well I think. I'm down another pound in a week, so that's cool. I'd love to be losing 2lbs per week, which is the maximum for healthy weight loss. But I'll be pretty happy if I can sustain 1lb down per week.
Arthur's Puppy Mama is getting her x-ray for the final headcount on Monday! Apparently she looks so cute and round pregnant. I must ask for photos.
I still can't fully believe this is happening. It's so cool. I mean, this is the coolest thing any of my dogs has ever done, beyond any title or sports achievement or anything. Contributing to his breed! Carrying on his line! Producing precious little babies that are gonna make their owners so happy! Beautiful, healthy, sound, intentionally bred babies. I can't wait to meet them.
It's Haley's 14th Got'cha Day!!!!
On this day 14 years ago my dad bought 5-week-old Haley for $100 from some people who'd bought her elsewhere and couldn't handle her. That day and that puppy completely changed my life.
I love you Haley Bagel. β₯οΈ
I joined a waitlist to get custom crate tags a few weeks ago and now it's my turn yay!! I have a pretty solid idea for what Haley is getting. For Arthur I have a concept but unsure exactly what it's gonna end up being.
I joined the waitlist for 2 tags, but if she is open to me getting a third then I think I will get one for Leia too. But not sure exactly what? Something Star Wars themed or something representative of her? Hmmmm ...

Fake itΒ βtil you make it
Arthur's puppies are due around June 22nd. I can't wait to see what we get! The ultrasound showed 5, but may not be perfectly accurate. I'm excited to see the gender split and colours. Hoping we get all 3 colour possibilities, so tris, black/white, and orange/white.
Arthur's qualifying Barn Hunt run from today. This was our very first ratting trial run ever! He did so good. He's so thorough. He's never gonna be the dog that does it in 10 seconds but that's okay. He seems to have such fun searching.
We went to our very first Barn Hunt trial and Arthur got a Q and third place! Yay!!!
He would have gotten 2 Qs if his handler wasn't stupid. π€¦ββοΈ He told me multiple times where the rat was on our second go and I didn't call it. He didn't Q his Instinct run because he was too busy checking every single hay bale instead of investigating the 3 tubes all lined up in a row. Oh well, maybe next time. He did so so well with independently searching in all of his runs, and he climbed up on bales and did the tunnels all by himself. They had the Novice cources nested with the more advanced ones, so they actually had a bigger tunnel with a turn in the ring that was not required but counted as a tunnel, and he did that one as well as the smaller straight novice tunnel!
Overall it went really really well, and I intend to do more ratting trials for sure. Unfortunately this was the only BHA trial of the year anywhere nearby. But we can trial in Rats! Canada. The rules are just a bit different. Personally I really like the tunnel and climbing requirements in BHA, and that I can talk to and encourage him the whole time if needed.

Arthur spent a couple hours this morning with his groomer. Now he's super extra handsome.
Did I ever show off their little matching ring bags?
