Senior Britta Belle works on her laser cut necklace

More photos and samples of the students trip to laser cut at the career center. Maggie cut and scored lines on felted wool to create cubes for a dress she'll be creating. Elise engraved the Mandelbrot series on the back yoke piece of a denim jacket she designed. Brita is making a collar neck piece with an intricate design cut on leather hide. Lenora is creating a pleather necklace piece with an Egyptian inspiration. Miranda laser cut out acrylic pieces to make a piece of jewelry.

Students had the great opportunity to visit The Career Center of Columbia to use the laser cut machine to test their project files on swatches of fabric. Stay tuned for the final projects!

The ladies working on an in-class exercise. Given a long strip of organza, we were to practice box pleating and then manipulating the pleats for possible surface design ideas in preparation for our final project.
