I don’t have any hobbies. Only shopping.

That’s hobby, shopping is kind of like a sport.

Well, I don’t know why. It’s not really a weird thing … No, that’s exactly what I do. I go to high school, that’s it.

I don’t know, some people just react differently I guess. What about your hobbies? 

I was in the shower earlier, and it just occurred to me– cereal is just dog kibble for humans. Let that brain bomb settle in for a few minutes.

But how would you explain the milk? 

Yeah, you can help all you want. But not at the price of you getting hurt, especially physically. Start a charity or something for soldiers, that’ll help with something. Me? Oh, I’m in high school.

I guess I could do that, thanks Melody. Most people ask weird questions when I tell them what happened. Okay, but that’s not what you do. What do you do? 

“So get this, I walked out of the movie theater and I see this perfectly fine and full bag of popcorn in one of the trash cans. Like, why would anyone waste such a perfect meal? I don’t get people.”

“You eat that out of the trash can...? You know - eh, I’m sure you’re fine.” 

I was going to start jogging to get fit. Turns out it’s not fun and I think I’m dying. Where’s the pizza?

Seriously? It’s only a couple blocks away, dude. You could - you know, run to the pizza parlor. 

I don’t think you should go back. Violence is never the answer to anything and you could get hurt again. Two good reasons why you shouldn’t. Oh, well technically it’s three if you include the whole “my parents would freak” thing.

I guess, but it just made me feel - I don’t know....important? Like it made me feel like I had a place in the world, like I was able to help with something. But you’re right Melody, I don’t know if I’ll go back. Right when my injury happened, I was all about trying to go back and help. But after a while, it just went to the back of my mind. But it’s whatever. What about you though? What do you do? 

Why were you kicked out? I’ll be sure to do that once I’ve finished helping my parents unpack.

I - uh, well I was shot. It wasn’t that bad - in my opinion at least. But my captain forced me to go home - after I recovered. I guess I could go back, but I think my parents would freak. Good, you should. Hopefully you’ll like it. 

Oh, so you’re in the military? Well, thanks. No, I haven’t. It’s a completely new place for me to explore.

That I am - or, I was. In broader terms, they kinda kicked me out. Yeah? Well don’t forget to check out the ice cream shop on Main street, it’s a killer.
