Rising Passion, Falling Souls

This chapter is kind of weird for me specifically, even if we saw it coming lol. I wonder how it is from the pov of someone who didn’t write 50+ strips of comic for about the last decade (fighting the hiatussss). Undoubtedly odd from UTY creators perspectives too- very Wild East vibes- I appreciate the same flavor in different styles.

Holy crap Asgore’s scary, I’m glad things worked out. (Parade their body around WHAT). It’s strange to see a variation of the humans Asgore would’ve killed and how he put their lives below his need for things to ‘not be his fault’. Literally most of them are just lil goofballs. I’m not sure I’ve got a favorite, they bounce off each other so well. Cyan Aqua reminds me somewhat more of how I wrote TSWFBY Blue (minus the knives), and Yellow reminds me of a doofy Starlo… I am concerned for the implications of Yellow’s will to live. I wonder if their designs changed over time or if Toby always imagined them like this.

I like seeing Ralsei mad tbh this chapter did wonders for him. Like the nicest guy you know HATES this one guy (both pseudo Asriels in their own way, I suppose they were bound to clash. Also I got the cutscene with Ralsei where Flowey Flowery notices Ralsei wants the pink and blue drink and then gets called princess… Also saw he’s chill to wear a dress. Maybe the Ralsei is a girl theorists have something after all, idk I’m too tired to make videos on theory stuff these days. IDC, Good for Ralsei either way.

The festival intro was great and a lot of gags really landed with me this time around (I adore dangling Alphys). For gameplay, I’m not big on platforming, but I switched to a controller and make it much easier for me (I fumble buttons a lot). Oddly I think I have a more positive view of this chapter overall than 3 & 4, but maybe it was just my burntout mindset at the time.

At the start of the dark world I inspected every closet but was like ‘Kris keeps saying it’s full of unnecessary stuff, let me stop before I annoy them’ and didn’t open the LAST dang closet- then Ralsei tumbles out and I said ‘Kris we are inspecting every speck of dirt from now on!’

I love the Yoshi-sounding crow and scarecrow enemies they are adorable. Legit thought terracotta was going to be called Guardener for a minute there.

Mad mew mew Pink I saw coming, I mean pink coins, cat ears- HATSUNE MIKU?!?! (I want merch I want merch I want merch). Still trying to get past her 3rd phase. The whole flowers and ghosts being unique from lightners/darkners is cool, I’m glad it got touched upon.

Can’t believe I nearly cried over Flowery. I didn’t even counter his final attack because I thought it’d hurt him (apparently the game lets you do this).

I wish we had the ability to show Kris we are trying other than just trying not to annoy them but I guess that’s the point. I tried to use the ‘slow walk’ button to see if it would help their health at the start (it didn’t).

I took a peek at the weird route stuff and uhhhhh AHHHHH HOLY MOLY. (Sooo about that photo of me by the water akwaaaard lol). Looks like chapter six will be an outlier without eggs or shard secret bosses or weird route. Wonder what happens there. I will miss the egg guy, even if I technically needed help finding him every single time. (Hey, I found the wheat field to mow, I just didn’t know to keep cutting the respawning part!)

The whole ‘Failed Dreams’ thing is neat, I’m looking forward to seeing where that goes.. FUN FACT: I thiiink the ‘DREAM’ item in Undertale is item ID 55 (you know, the one that means LV in Roman numerals, and the number that Noelle’s health drops to in the weird route). Also bad memory is right behind it at 54- NO I WILL NOT LET THIS THEORY GO! It’s like the only one of my theories that’s still standing lol
