I love time travel fics too, especially when they are bittersweet and don't actually fix anything, so I definitely got inspiration from ones like, Crossing Lines by sometimeswelose and Psalm 40:2 by unicornpoe, and I probably had watched Lebanon for the first time and thought about how disorienting it would be for Dean to be the one pulled through time– to have to meet his dad and recognize how much he'd changed but then being forced back into old patterns. It'd definitely been percolating in my head for a long time before I finally sat down and wrote it. It was the first fic I'd written since I was a teenager! I really just wanted to engage in fandom again because I'd remembered it being so fun.

The first version of it was only published for a few weeks before I took it down to re-do it, and I'm happy I did because I like the 2nd version more :)
