To address your concerns in order of severity:
One:
In the absence of updates and activity, detractors and shills have come out of the woodwork to try and imply that our information is somehow outdated, false or dangerous (without providing evidence to back up these claims) while advertising either their own services or those belonging to entities that are connected to certain groups and/or individuals known for selling stolen or common knowledge solutions. This is simply due to the fact that while privacy and security communities are growing, there are those who wish to exploit the fears and ignorance of people for profit by marketing and infiltrating said communities from the inside out.
Two:
Weâve no connections to any corporations or have any (real) sponsors. Outside of our âsponsor page,â which is just us using SEO to our advantage and linking back to articles or those thatâve contributed, weâre working on our own time, out of our own pockets, and through research of our own or that contributed by viewers/readers/followers. Thatâs it, thus far, outside of several interested parties offering to help fund us indirectly VIA websites or apparel. While this is interesting to us, and could benefit us, we wonât accept any help until we can come up with a decent solution thatâll not only protect our potential benefactors but also us and our contributors.
Three:
Yes, we are aware of several dozen groups, blogs, videos and activists whoâve directly and indirectly referenced us or our works. Itâs in our FAQs page that people can use this information freely, even if they donât credit us, ergo a non-issue as of now. We thank you, however, for notifying us and alerting us to these incidents as it allows us to further track the progress and awareness thatâs coming from the PB.
Four:
The reason for lack of updates and activity is due to the shortness of manpower. Weâre losing volunteers and members in general. This isnât due to a lack of interest or drive but a lack of time. Weâre comprised of students, families and workers. A lot of our team canât take time to work on pushing our guides as they have their own lives and schedules to contend with, and because we believe people shouldnât try to live off privacy and security alone. This information should be free, always, ergo we wonât be making this our main source of income or time use unless one of us profits majorly from another project, come into wealth, or win the lottery. If, by some miracle, one of us comes into money then yes, thereâll be a permanent pace to the blog.
Five:
Due to the toxicity and selfishness of the Tumblr community, and because of the odd updates on Tumblr, a lot of the add-ons and scripts used are no longer updated which makes the pic-spam and general queue content a lot harder to work with and push out. That content is by far the least of our concerns but weâll work on pushing it through once again when someone has time.
Six:
Weâre not associated with any adult content based communities, websites, forums or chats. The many that exist linking to us do so out of their own freewill, and not because of anything weâve said or done outside of creating privacy and security based content.
Seven:
Like six, weâre not associated with any political groups, religious groups or similar groups. These groups canât be stopped from using our content, and if you look at our FAQs page youâll notice weâve stated this information is free for all.
Finally:
We may post some textual content once we finish sorting through the 3k+ emails and messages that weâve in the backlog.
