Ive been seeing a lot of gorgeous interpretations of the fallen humans ever since chapter 5 of Deltarune came out, and im so fascinated by how HUMANIZING the HUMANS changes so much of how we view the story of undertale.
Like yes... the "your fav character is a child murderer lmao" jokes have always existed. But holy fuck does it hit different when you are attached to the child.
If we are to go with the deltarune flowers being, at the very least, close to how the fallen humans were characterized, then its so fuuuuuucked to think about them for longer than a few seconds bc now they feel like PEOPLE.
Aqua was a playful little girl with her hair in a ribbon and a plastic toy knife in her hand. She probably died confused, thinking she was playing a game with the monster trying to kill her and take her soul.
Purple/Seth was a bright young child who fell down with a fucking BOOK in their arms. A BOOK. They were probably fascinated by monsters, maybe they'd come to the underground on purpose to learn more about them. Just to, very likely, die when Undyne found them.
Orange was the bravest girl in the world. She wanted to be brave and heroic so much she drew abs on her bandana even though she wore "girly" pink gloves. I've seen a lot of interpretations of Deltarune Orange saying "Was I brave? Y-you'll say I was brave, right?!" were the fallen orange human’s last words to her murderer.
Green..... fuck, man. I wouldn't be surprised if they'd taken one good long look at the conditions the monsters were living in and had walked their ass to the nearest royal guard, offering themselves with a smile and a wave goodbye.
Blue was a good kid, I dont give a FUCK what anyone says, that boy just wanted to go home and dance. If we go on Undertale Yellow lore, which i will bc i think most of the Fandom has accepted it as pretty much canon, he killed monsters. YEAH. MONSTERS WHO PROBABLY ATTACKED HIM FIRST. AND HE GOT CHASED INTO WATERFALL AND TORN TO PIECES BY A MURDER ROBOT FOR IT. He fell down wearing a tutu and ballet slippers, that boy wasn't a cold hearted killer he just wanted to go HOME.
And Yellow. Oh, Clover my beloved. Regardless of Undertale Yellow being a fangame, I dont think theres any doubt that the yellow child was just. With a cowboy hat and a toy gun, they fell wanting to find justice for the humans he KNEW had gone missing down there. And treating true pacifist as the canon ending, he knew the monsters deserved justice too. So much that he was willing to die for it.
Yes, I know Asgore is nuanced. ALL of ut's characters are. I really like asgore's character. But fuck, man. He and his guard murdered these kids and kept the last remnants of their lives in glass jars. Not to breach the barrier, just to keep and pray they'll never have to kill another human again. Theoretically making their deaths meaningless if another human never falls.
In conclusion, the fallen humans deserved better and as much as i love the guy, theres a reason toriel dumped his ass THAT hard.
