It's cheap nostalgia pandering. I wouldn't put more thoughts into it than that.

Like, this is just a fucking shitty thing to say about anyone no matter how you slice it, who the fuck cares if somebody clearly sees something in it that you don't? The fact they refuse to open their mind to others who don't have the same opinion as them is why FE fans so insufferable to talk to.

It doesn't help that they frequently regard me as such and see me as "rage-baiting" because I think Fates has one of the best stories in the series when you get past the scuffed first impression (up there with FE4 and Tellius, frankly), while 3H, to me, has one of the worst stories in the series. I think the reason why I comes off as putting them down is because I speak with such conviction and certainty about my points and are willing to cite scenes to build off of my points. And I'm not afraid to express disdain for what I like. I'm happy to be friends with people who love 3H more than me, I just don't want them to treat me like trash because I have my views.

I also think it's a mix of basing their pride off of assuming Fates was always lesser and 3H was always good when that's subjective. Stubborness and pride and the idea of "if I admit that my subjective views on storytelling aren't objective and I missed something so obvious, what does that say about my competence at reading context? It's a lot easier to attack the messenger than to accept what it has to say if accepting the truth means damaging the ego.

Like, the above image is just weird-ass behavior. I think they're just impossible to talk to because they look down on me, but then throw a hissy fit because I have the takes I do that they see as disparaging what they think is good! Well, golly gee gosh, maybe look in the mirror and realize what you're doing! They even have the temerity to call me an elitist because I have any basic kind of standards of actually making sure my takes are derived from the text. I have described to people crucial context about Fates's story using subtext, context and various details and people deflected with calling it "baseless headcanons" or "it's not that deep" because they don't want to accept something they hate utterly has merit or a cohesive idea behind it. They're so insecure lmao.

Rhea's biggest, actually since is her inaction.

She's too busy trying to revive her mother because she misses her and thinks only Sothis can right the wrongs of Fodlan. It's not just Rhea's trauma that's keeping her from stepping up, there's also an element of inadequacy. Sothis' children, powerful as they are/were, are/were mortals, and with all these supernatural elements surrounding Sothis, she's not just the ultimate dragon, she's straight up divinity. I'm talking about a Capital G Goddess here, of course Rhea would feel neither she nor anyone else could live up to her standard.

(Of course, this still is a game so we need a conflict to happen regardless, like say... a zombie apocalypse.)
