america: is the life of the party usually and needs a partner who can keep up. as such, combine both of their outgoing spiritedness and you get perhaps have the most fun relationship. both of them are down for almost anything, which leaves the possibilities endless. they’re adventurous and are usually the first to show their friends whatever cool, ‘new’ thing they’ve taken to.
russia: nobody could use a bit of light-hearted fun more than this man. not only does ivan gravitate towards fun partners (who yield fun relationships), but he often finds himself aware that he’s in love based off of how light-hearted and fun his partner is, as those are the ones that seem to lift the gravity of his existence thus far off his poor, battered heart.
norway: behind is relatively quiet demeanor, is actually a rather playful man. lukas likes someone who can keep him interested, and who better than the life of the party? he feels the stuffy burdens of beaurocracy and adulthood lifted from his shoulders when he’s with his partner, and that’s the greatest gift of all.

romano: feels such a lack of emotional validation usually, that the validation he gets in a relationship needs to feel more tangible than just promises of a future and a technical label. for him, sex gives him some palpable, concrete thing from their relationship to hold, cherish, and reciprocate. that is, as he physically holds his partner to him, he knows that he emotionally and figuratively ‘has them’ as well.
PRIVACY AND EMOTIONS CENTERED
ukraine: has been around way too long for that petty he-said-she-said bullshit. katyusha is a woman, and she expects to conduct herself in relationships as such - not as a little girl. an emotional bond is essential for her, as she tires of tawdry flings. privacy is another must, seeing as her work is important and deals a lot with the public. that’s all there is to it, really. she’s not looking to waste any more time.
france: francis wants love at its most basal and distilled form - kept between the people who have it. romance is not a spectator sport, and extra eyes tend to get tangled up in heartstrings. as such, privacy is of the utmost importance to him - that and of course, the love itself. he’d never pervert something he holds so sacred for things as frivolous as money, power, or ego - things he all has already anyway.
spain: is deeply possessive when in love, and therefore is not opening his relationships up to an audience. the root of this fixation on his partner is of course his strong feelings for them, so emotion follows naturally with his need for privacy.
canada: not that many people notice him enough to gossip about his personal relationships, though he is in the public eye still. as such, he wants to protect his partner and keep them out of it as much as possible. it’s the one area of his life where he perhaps, does not yearn for more attention - that of his lover is sufficient enough.
england: again, emotions and privacy are intermingled here - he never makes his emotions public. it’s just not his way; such things, as they are spurned from the inner working of his heart, are intended to stay exactly that - in. usually, when he starts dating someone new, the press doesn’t even know he’s single. he has a reputation as a stuffy, lonely prude, and he’d like to keep it that way.
prussia: is basically in retirement, so he’s really done looking for more stress. he’s not looking for a partner who’s growing or changing - what he sees, he gets. his standards are a bit more relaxed than they used to be, as a result, and he’s grateful for that, finding that a substantial emotional bond comes more easily when he’s not hyper critical of the physical and sexual components.
china: again, he’s an old dog not looking to learn any new tricks. he finds all the posturing and stringent expectations of a relationship to be quite exhausting, and so all he really wants now is someone he can cuddle up with at the end of the night, and greet the new day with in the morning. the little stuff, he doesn’t sweat anymore.
picardy: loyal and hardworking, he’s looking for someone to fit into his already stable life. he doesn’t need the passionate love that seems to throw francis into a tizzy, nor does he need the prettiest or most glamourous partner ‘on the market’. he just needs someone reliable.
molossia: wouldn’t have holed up in the middle of america if he wasn’t trying to chill. looking for love doesn’t necessarily mean looking for a thrill ride. he just wants some comfortable, sweet company as he lives his peaceful, quiet life.
