Considering the recent Alm alt in FEH, I fear this ship has sailed lmao. This used to be a series about human foolishness, learning from the past, building bridges between races and combating aggression&violence with compassion and understanding. Not anymore!

I wouldn't say FE is dead, but the franchise has certainly transformed into something that barely resembles what the series originally was. Unfortunately this happens to long running series' and we all have to decide when games stop being fun for us and it's time to jump ship.

Fortune's Weave is definitely this for me. Not just because this game will bring back toxic discourse again, but also because...the game doesn't look good.

First off, it's blatantly trying to recreate 3H. The coliseum replaces the monastery as the hub, there are 4 routes, there are 3 countries on the map, awkward social sim stuff is back and even the cover is structured exactly the same as 3H's:

Considering what a bad taste Fodlan left in my mouth, this is the last thing I wanted.

Second, the protagonists are uncharismatic and seem kinda boring. You have the shota (who will be on a FEH summer banner for some reason) with the not-yet-dead parent. Mr Male-Power-Fantasy Edgelord McEdge who takes from Jeritza because that's a character we definitely needed more of. And then there are the two sexualized "queens". Ms. Girlboss who smashes her foes while wearing nothing but a bra, a thong, stockings and a cape. And lastly Ms. "We-will-not-address-using-transformed-humans-as-attack-dogs" who wants revenge and will probably learn nothing because getting revenge as a woman is girlbossy and only bad if you are a dude or a dragon in this series.

Also speaking of fanservice, I had to laugh at this:

Considering that there are a male and a female version of this character on the cover, I suppose this is the avatar of FW. The male one has his whole body covered by his cape and the female one...shows breast and thighs lol.

Lastly, the character designs look strange to me in general.

The overly saturated colors do not fit the setting and tone and the clothes are way too overdesigned. At least for Engage this style fit the tone, here it looks out of place.

That means it's time for a Nuzlocke again! This time it will be Heartgold because it features a lot of QoL improvements and a more chill gaming experience in comparison to Pokemon Crystal.

Yeah, I agree. Micaiah and Camilla being "Sothe&Corrin" bots is disappointing, but it's still much, much better than what happened to poor Eliwood. It's funny how people praised 3H for being oh-so critical of "da system" and yet Fire Emblem is a franchise whose core values and ideology was sold out for money. Anna REALLY has been the mascot of the series for all this time.

When I saw the Alm and Eliwood duo, I felt cognitive dissonance and couldn't put my finger on it. After spending 2 minutes thinking about it, I have an answer. This duo is just wrong.

First off, the title.

"For Others' Sake" sure applies to Eliwood, but to Alm? This Alm?

Alm's whole shtick is that he does what he thinks is right, not protecting others. This is one of the two lords who says that sacrifices are necessary for the future. Not to mention that he would sacrifice the world for Celica. That's the exact opposite of what the new title says. But that's not all...

Only humanity? If there is any lord who should have a problem with what Alm is saying, it would be Eliwood. You know, the guy who has a child with a manakete. Of course Alm can't be called out. No discussion can follow. Eliwood has to happily nod along to not ruin the "we are all one big family who want the same" illusion, completely assassinating his character in the process.

So how exactly will IntSys bind these two characters together?

Ah yes, they both follow their peace-loving dads! Eliwood follows Elbert who refused to join a rebellion and Alm follows Rudolf who started a war to create a dragon-free Valentia. They have so much in common!
