tfw you go into the tags for an entirely different fandom and see really bad star wars takes in that tag too
#ugh now i'm annoyed#like. maybe consider the fact that if you think anakin being redeemed/forgiven/whatever in canon is a good thing#then shouldn't other non-sw characters be extended that same courtesy? especially if they do nowhere as terrible things as anakin did?#like. what??????????#if we as a society decide that it's acceptable to forgive /anakin/#who caused the galaxy /so much/ pain and suffering for decades. who wiped out the jedi. who tortured his own children.#if we're deciding that in spite of all of that we can and should forgive him#then literally any other character in any other piece of media /EVER/ who genuinely seeks out forgiveness#should get it as long as the person doing the forgiving is willing to do it. no questions asked.#we can't say things like ''darth vader is deserving of forgiveness but not character xyz'' like. what??????#absolutely the fuck not#sorry y'all i haven't been this spicy about star wars in a hot minute#but here we are#also clarification: just because i'm making this argument doesn't mean that /i/ personally think anakin deserves redemption#that's a more nuanced question to answer#but ultimately canon + luke + the fandom generally sways in the direction of forgiving/redeeming him#i could probably make another spicy post about that but. perhaps not. i've rambled enough on this one.
