people who dont get why people do speed or are alchoholic havene't had ADHD or depression because it is really a matter of like "yeah, if you have dpression and you drink enough you feel normal... but also if you're drinking that much you are also probably drinking so much that you just get fucked on booze and people are like "oh you're justa drunk" but no this is genuinely what normal people feel like and we arrive at the terry pratchett concept of "knurd", or anti-drunk where you're so sober you're dysfunctional unless you've had a comically amount of drink in you at which point muscles feel good to move and smiling... like it feels so good to smile while drunk if you're depressed whereas without the booze it genuinely is a matter of entering Gorilla space where if I make eye contact... clearly a fight is gonna start so I'm avoiding eye and people start making "are you autistic" comment when like, like I know you're girl of a very pick-upable and sling-over-your-shouldable weight but like it's not a sexual thing I just really enjoy slinging people over my shoulder and carrying them around it's fun! fuck you!

But like it's super fucked that you can give people drugs and they feel normal for a while but like then the feeling normal drugs are expensive or heavily stigmatised, like they should have a version of ethanol that is 1/10 the strentgth and I can take that and smile normal style but noooooo gotta gorilla style this because otherwise my liver explodes

AND YET the tests are like written? like no, man, give me some shots and that's your depression test, like it will give you more information on medicating my depression than fucking around with tricyclics for a while, like whatever ethanol is doing is find somethin that does that and doesn't shred my liver and forever forbid me from the realm of forkilifts

This is - legitimately - my favourite delivery of Shakespeare I have EVER seen (and I have seen some good-ass productions yo, in the Globe Theatre itself even). Like seriously, even though the words are unchanged, he’s stripped away ALL of the archaic pretense and assumed grandeur of ~presenting the bard~ that makes even the most wildly talented of actors and innovative of productions inherently inaccessible to a modern audience. Like, they’re still great, they can still communicate the message and (some) of the nuance, but they’re still always a step removed from being identifiable to any viewer’s lived experience. They’re still always reciting 15th century poetry. But this guy? This guy is like, screw iambic pentameter, to hell with being precious about the material, HOW WOULD AN ACTUAL PERSON SAY THIS SHIT?

Like this. And it’s beautiful. It’s beautiful to hear a soliloquy I loved so much already, and have it come to life in a way it never, ever, did before. I feel like I grasp his motivations, his twists and turns, no longer on an academic level but on a visceral, instinctive one. Because he’s presenting his mental and emotional journey in a way that speaks honestly, like a real person.

So yeah, this shit post? I love it. Deeply and sincerely.
